Yeah I agree, scotchlocks are s**te.
If you are wanting that sort of a connection, use t-taps |

when i did it i removed the rubber sleeve on the sidelights + and - and connected it to them
i'm sure you can get plastic join that can cut into the wire but i dont know what it is called, maplins stock that join thing |

Pretty simple to wire in.
As per forum rules the price is £100, but I am open to offers
