Got some bits off a 2002 five door or may have been an estate at a scrappy in Devizes last week. That had the same black leather as in my CC.

Found the problem!

Took the end of the stalk and it came out with the ribbon cable which was not plugged in!

So I have taken the shroud off the steering wheel, but now cannot see how to get the ...
