Yeah I've just gone and taken another reading and it is a solid 11.95 so that's pretty dead then.
And I'm really relieved to hear the symptoms are inkeeping with a flat battery.

I thought it was 12v at rest and 14v running?

It all looks too equally spaced to be a screwdriver, and surely there would be damage to the rubber itself too from a break in attempt? It looks like a right to left movemement which maybe hasnt come ... |

That oil indicator is about as much use as a snooze button on a smoke alarm.
Use the dip stick, preferably after the car has been standing for a decent period of time. |
