Update on this as it seems to be fixed (no faults in 6 weeks) and might be useful for others.

Changed plugs for Bosch and cleaned the MAF (just in case)

It hasn't but would incorrect fitment allow it to ever run perfectly at all though?

Also unsure how tappets or the oil would cause an intermittent fault? It can go for days and be perfectly fine with no symptoms at all, surely this is more likely to be caused by something electrical?

As far as I know it´s the correct oil

Seems like there are a load of known issues for this issue, is there any way of checking which of them it might be before replacing everything?
