If the earth is dodgy, it should be easily recognisable, rust/ damage/ split's/ bare wire etc etc. If you can't see any of this evidence on any of the neg wires/ terminals then I would suggest checkin ... |

If you want bigger rear discs you could get the 406 v6 rear 290MM discs and calipers in under the 180 wheels? Calipers 2nd hand be about £50.00 the pair, new discs shouldn't be much more than £80.00 ... |

Have you had the ECU tested to make sure it's not the ECU at fault (had a few cars with similar problems as you showing faults with ignition/ coil pack/ injectors etc and turned out to a permanent ECU ... |

It might smell of fuel because the pump is dumping a bit into the cylinder but as its not being burnt as normal, its just sitting there, may even flood the engine eventually if there's not spark. Try ... |

Sorry, forgot to say, if you do change the two rocker covers they need to be off the EW10J4 engine otherwise the gasket's are wrong and they won't fit (so don't buy the rocker covers off anything less ... |

To get the GTi 180 engine cover to fit on a 'normal' GTi, the mounting points on the GTi rocker cover need to be matched to the acoustic cover on the 180. The 180 holding tags have a different head on ... |

The M59 is the model type of Partner.
As for the output, last time I checked the GTi 180 has four output MC not 3? 2 on top, 2 on the side, 4? Or at least it was when I went to school? |
