I replaced the alarm sensors summer 2010 ( think).
Remove the sensors from the top a pillars 1st, so push out from A Pillars. Sensor wires run behind the trim above windscreen, so you need to free th ...

My Pug GTI did exactly that - alarm going off randomly at silly O'clock in the morning, or at any other time. I pressed the disabler button by handbrake to disable the alarm yet it still went off.
