yeah, could be the 'dog bone' gear box mount. under the car in the middle.
An old clio trick was to fill the gaps with tiger seal to stiffen it up....not sure if the 206 has a silmar design though??

Yes, it will cause knocking, and will cause ware on the bearing while it's not fitted, I would get it back on quick.

I had it scanned by my cousin and it showed faulty steering wheel position sensor which is build into the Comm2000.
Only problem is, his software has now failed so he can use it.
