Squeeling belt on full lock?
-> 206 Problems

#1: Squeeling belt on full lock? Author: PezHdi, Location: Shrewsbury PostPosted: Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:42 pm

Hay guys.

Not very often I ask for help as I Can normally sort most my self but this time I would like some help just to sort out more of an annoying situation not a problem.

Basically when I'm turning the wheel on the car to full lock I'm getting a squeeling noise from my belt.
When this happens I notice that the lights on the dash and headlights dim slightly.
I'm guessing this is going to be because the car is loaded up and most of you will say the battry is on it's way out.
Iv tested the battey and it says it has a good life on my battey reader.
So want could he causing this?
Alternator?

Earlier on in the year I have replaced the fuel pump with a bigger one off a 2.2 hdi and removed the aircon, found a shorter belt which fit and fitted that.

Other than that I can think of anything else.

Any help would be kindly taken
Regards Pez

Sure it's the belt and bit the pump?

Was my first thought & had an identical problem when I first picked up my car which was solved by doing the pump and belt together.

If the above is the case then the lights shouldn't be dimming because of it surely.

I had the same problem on a vito van, turned out to be the alternator, putting more stress on the power steering pump

Any power steering fluid will do, just don't use LHM, they fluid they put in old citroen's, the ones with the hydraulic suspension.
