as above? getting the whine noise, which has been getting louder. It seems it definitely a pulley or tensioner noise. can any help with part codes please and how easy to change the pulley / tensioners. new belt along with cambelet and water pump was changed about 10k ago but no tensioners or pulley on aux side were touched.

You'll need to PM me your VIN, as there have been 3 different variants of drivebelt pulleys and alternator brackets depending on the year of manufacture (not to mention a selection of alternators)

There also have been two types of 1.4 - TU3 A (carburetor) and TU3 JP (fuel injection), but I bet you won't have a carb there Smile

That's what we're here for:)

Pulleys and their bolts as per your VIN, all superseded parts (so go for the RP and then the long number):

Part 04 has been superseded with a dynamic tensioner. Dearer, but worth it to keep the belt evenly taut and to prevent squeals.

Peugeot recognises your VIN as 1.4 i 75 (TU3A), but I bet that certainly is a misconception; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...engine#TU3

cant seem to find the superceded parts anywhere??

also the roller on part no.4 --seems it is possible to just replace that than the full tensioner? what u think?

Are you looking at after market parts?

Try dealer .. they are often cheaper than the "cheap" parts .. and last longer

Also check the bottom crank pulley. Not sure if they are same as our diesel but our made a horrible noise which I though was the aux belt .. only to find the rubber had split and it was mashing the outer pulley part onto the centre boss ..

Don't think you can .. the separate wheel in that screenshot is a different part and simply to run the belt around ..

No point in asking for part numbers if your going for cheap parts. False economy usually as well

I had similar whinning noise a few months ago. I checked alternator with belt off, that seemed OK. The noise stayed after replacing tensioner. In the end I found the aircon compressor pulley bearing was making the noise. I mean the one pressed in the pulley. This one rolls only when aircon is off and compressor is not running. The best way to check this bearing is to remove the belt and wind a rope around the pulley few times. Then pull it fast to achieve high pulley speed. The noise is not present when the pulley spins at low rpm (rotated by hand).
The bearing is not replaceable without access to turning workshop. The easiest to take one pulley from scrapyard. The most challenging is to get a grip on the pulley to undo its bolt. If you have an angle grinder, you can use its disk spanner with the two pins on to get a firm grip on the pulley. From that point it is straight forward to replace.
