Going to have a go at lowering the rear tomorrow, I have sprayed penetrating oil on the torx screws and the surrounding area today so hopefully this will help in removal, I have had a look at the how to and it says there are 2 torx screws per side to remove but I can only see one? Any advice as to where the second one is and any advice on the job at all would be great.

Look a bit harder and you will find them! If you're at the still at the stage of looking for the torx screws you aren't ready for doing the torsion bars yourself! Yet.

I havent even taken the wheels off yet it was just so I could get in with the penetrating oil to let them soak, I lowered the rear torsion bar on my old clio and it was a piece of cake so I have been told this is easier to do. I will take the wheels off and have a look.

the torx are at the end of each bar. you must not be looking at the other bar then? and if i was you id get some new torxs to go back in along with the pear washers

Yes buying new bolts is well worth it. There's a good chance you'll round the old ones off a bit so for what small amount they cost they're worth buying. Get some copper grease for the new ones too.

Only my opinion but if you rely on the car daily i'd make sure i had acces to some easyouts as well. and maybe some burning gear just incase things get really stuck and you need some heat.

Yeah I was thinking that mate, I am off this week so I have a few days to sort it if anything goes wrong. Do you think a decient blow torch would suffice?

Park near a wall too and put a block of timber between the trailing arm and wall, otherwise when you hit the torsion bar you'll probably end up knocking the arm off the axle tube.

Get a huge hammer and a big can od WD40, when i did mine, it was in solid. i was whacking, spraying, whacking, spraying, with the odd hitting of my hand with a metal mallet, kind of hurts 
Ive got to raise the rear end on mine, but i absolutly lathered it all in copper grease, so it "should" knock straight out this time.
