Well...
My car seems to warm up very quickly. I do a 2 and a bit mile school run and usually it doesn't even get to 70 degrees by the time I get back home. Now by the time I get to the school it's already at the 80 degree point (where my car normally sits at once warmed up probably) and then once at 80 it dips back down to 70 and rises again, yet it doesn't seem to want to go anywhere further then 80 i.e to 90 and beyond when I'm checking to see if the fan kicks in.
I have also flushed and refiled the coolant again with a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. Mine fully filled was 1.5 litres (if this the correct amount..?) and again checked for air bubbles, closed up and ran the car again but again it's getting up to 80 very quickly and also dipping and not getting to past 90.
Even when the car gets to 70 my heaters at 4 are very hot but now there not even luke warm.
This has been happening only since the snow went and I didn't drive the car over the period while the snow was about...but did start it every second day for about 15mins.
If anyone could help that would be great...if this can't be solved by myself, it's off to the mechanic it goes "/

You have an airlock
1.5 litres, there's a bit more in the coolant system then that

How can I go about correcting this and how much should I have in the coolant system..?

don't know what engine you got but my 2.0HDi has at least 6L of coolant

Mines a XSi so a 1.6 16v. I'm taking it up to the garage at 2/2.30 to get the chap there to check it out. See what happens.
But what I don't understand is how has an airlock be possible if the car has been started everyday regardless of it being driven..?

Airlock in the coolant system... won't affect the car's running, and can occur when you've been topping up or draining the system. If it's not an airlock (which it probably is) it'll be your matrix.

just changed mine took 6.5L, got a 206 1.9 diesel

Right...problems sorted all the pipework was taken off the car. Rad upper and lower rad hosing and the system was completely flushed this time...previously I just took what I could out of the system via the bleed nipple. After this engine flush was put through the system and all pipe work was put back on...just under 7 litres was used to fill all the system but even after that was bleed I was still having the problem.
I then noticed when driving I was getting a sloshing noise from the passenger footwell and then after a quick b road blast the car was back up and running like normal.
The chap at the bodyshop said it could have been because it hadn't been driven for 10 days the thermostat could have needed some felting to get it back to normal again.

Sloshing sound from glovebox area or passanger footwell is most likely to be a coolant leak, meaning water is escaping and air is getting in to the coolant (NOT good!)
For me, I've found water in my passanger footwell, meaning my heater matrix had leaked (£240)
but your leak could be anywhere (radiator... pipes... etc)
Get it fixed!! I ignored it and the air getting into the coolant let to head gasket failure
(detectable by engine juddering, smoke, white residue in coolant etc... NOT neccessary by over-heating which everyone forgets)
