i was looking online at the mot history and i noticed that the car had been given a pass but advisory note issued.
Advisory Notice issued
Offside Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.3)
Offside Rear Axle swivel joint has slight play (2.5.A.3b)
i doubt these jobs would have been sorted, so my question is, are these big jobs that are gonna cost an arm and a leg to put right ?

they are comman to go, dont think it'll cost that much and might be worth having a independant garage to look at it for you and quote to do the works, but make it clear they are to do any work to it at this time.

well yes and no.
it was mot'd in march 2010 ( passed with the advisory )
it had been used regularly by the dealer until i bought the car in december 2010.
however, before i bought the car i asked for a full 12 months mot, it was booked in the next day and i collected from the dealer a few days later due to bad weather.
strangely enough, there was no advisory on the last mot.

It comes down to the person inspecting it. My car just had a full service at the the same place it gets MOT'd and the MOT three months ago said that my front shocks were showing slight signs of leaking but in the service it wasn't picked up.

I'd go & get another MOT independent from the dealer. If they pick up on the advisories, or anything else for that matter, I'd go back to the dealer & ask then to explain how they didn't & ask them to rectify the issues. If they refuse, I'm sure there's a number to ring if your not happy with the quality of an MOT station.

An MOT is only an indication that the vehicle was of roadworthy and 'safe' condition at the time of inspection. Any inspection now could bring up faults which have developed since the one the dealer did and that is how they will get out of any repairs.
As for reporting them, if you intentionally put faults on a car, witnessed and evidence taken (vids or phots) and then put the vehicle through without them being noticed, THEN you can complain. Otherwise the same thing will happen - refusal to take action. The MOT is a legal requirement but isn't fool proof. It isn't actually worth much as far as the car's condition.

thanks for the advice.
in a way, the mot was independant from the dealer.
the place where it was mot'd was about 1/2 a mile away from the dealer.
however the records show that it was the same mot station it was returned to for the fresh mot and this time no advisory.

An MOT is only valid for that time. You could drive the car out of the garage and VOSA could do a spot check and it could fail

tbh .. im not bothered really about the mot side of things.
just wondering how big a job for both repairs to be done if and when needed and the cost of them really.
been reading around and it seems the back axle thing is the biggest ball ache, not sure about the front , new shocks ?.
i can build and repair computers but cars are alien to me so your thoughts are welcome folks
