Sorry to hear about the accident mate, at least you are okay. Poor old GTI!
The 'stone on tar' is a cheap way of resurfacing the road is far from ideal...the signage should be placed well in advance of the work though. Hope you sort it out with your insurers.

Really gutted for you but im relieved that your ok, hope you get something sorted soon, id still complain or do something about the speed rapidly dropping without much warning though

Sorry to see that frankie. In the end though, they are just cars. It's not the car you love, it's the effort you put into it that gives you that feeling.
I guarantee if you looked after any other marque of car, you would feel the same.
If you need a hand with anything, I'm around for the next 3 weeks or so up your way with not much to do.
