hi my 1.4 hdi has a ticking sound which sounds like a tappet should i use an engine flush on a 1.4 hdi 03 plate its done 86 thousand miles as i reade somewhere that using an engine flush on my car could do more damage than good ??????? it disapears at higher revs but on tick over you can here it any thoughts ...cheers guys

Yeah I got told engine flush can do more harm than good.
So just let the engine idle for a while so the oil is warm/hot For when you change it.
You can get some kind of oil that's supposed to quieten down noisy tappets, you just add it to the oil already in you're car.
Can't remember the specific name of it, also can't say whether it's any good, as I haven't used it.
Seen it in the shops though. So maybe that'll help.

May be the round pulley driver thing near the driver side wheel... CANNOT think of the name atm sorry ahaha!
