My girlfriends 2005 1.1 won't start. All electrics work on the ignition but I've always known a car to tick if its the battery when starting it. It turns over for about 2 seconds and then it dies.

This was my problem, my earth strap had broken.
So its always worth a check.

Goes from the negative battery terminal to the gearbox then to the car body all under the battery itself. Follow the cable from the battery.
