Can anyone confirm that the 180 Gearboxes are Interchangeable. i.e. they have not changed in design and a late 2003 gearbox will fit a 2004 gti 180.

Yeah they are fine. All the mounting holes are the same.

Some have 2 fixing points for the mounting bracket and some have 3 fixing points so you need to check what yours is

It depends on the code on the gearbox recently had to change mine recently and I could only use a 20DM77 or 20DM78 as I found out the hard way as I bought 2 other gearboxes both off 180's however the sensors and gear selector were different to my box, even swapping the sensors over and gear selector to fit these gearboxes still wouldn't work
