Hi all, just registered.
I've got a 206SW 2.0HDi which I've had for a few years now, great trusty car.
It's failed its MOT on a few bits and bobs, most of which I have sorted but one of them is a split CV boot which I need to replace. I don't like stretch boots and despise glued seam ones so need to remove the outer CV.
I'm no stranger to the job, I've done loads on other cars but before I tackle this I'm wondering what the CV retention method is on these Peugeots. On my Renaults, it's retained with a spring clip, you clamp the shaft in a vice and give the joint a really good whack on the inner cage and it just pops off.
I can't find much info on these Peugeots though other than an SKF video which suggests you have to destroy the joint to get it off. This may just be because the video is about replacing the CV itself so you'd not be bothered about busting it off. Still seems like the harder way to do it though if it can just be whacked off, so that's why I'm uncertain.
Anyone help?

OK, just to update, because I know you'll all be on the edge of your seats...
The CV does just pop off. A couple of well placed belts with the lump hammer and drift does it no sweat.
Boot replaced (£15ish GKN part from eurocarparts) and car back on the road ready for another year of trouble free motoring.
Next stop 160,000 - all aboard!

worst bits when you end up pulling the driveshaft out the box by mistake and getting gearbox oil everywhere.
