#1: Peugeot 206 iPod Interface - Anyone had any experience? Author: danhodson, Location: Derby, UKPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:18 pm ---- I've got quite a comprehensive collection of music in mp3 form and since moving to my Peugeot I'm missing usb/aux input from my headunit.
I'm quite happy with the standard unit in the pug, and can't really warrant upgrading as it's not really needed and I can't really afford it as I want to maintain steering wheel functionality.
I've found this and wondered if anyone else has any experience with it?
If so how easy is it to do, and more importantly do I have to unplug my head unit as I've not got the stereo code.

Its very easy to fit, I don't think I bothered to disconnect anything. It plugs into the CD changer socket on the back of the headunit - I just fed the box of tricks down the side of the dashboard/passenger footwell and the lead runs into my arm rest box.
All the controls including selecting playlists can be done on the radio or on the stalk.
Word of warning: it does not charge the latest iPods with the firewire charging capabilities removed.

I've not got an armrest box on mine, 'reckon it would be hard to make it come though the ashtray as I don't use it really. Also how much slack have I got to work with when getting the head unit out, I'd hate to pull it out and lose the code as it would work out extremely expensive trying to get the code etc.
edit: I've got a Nano 5G, any ideas about charging on that?

The cable on mine is routed down the gap between the dashboard and the heater matrix. The cable from the box is pretty long - in position the cable will stretch to the back seats.
You've got the same iPod as me - your unlikely to find a unit that will charge it. Though the connect box may have been updated since I got mine.

Ahh this must be what this means:
Quote::
Works with the dock connector at the bottom of the iPod (iPod 3rd/4th/5th Gen, Nano, Video, Mini etc) An adaptor will be required for charging the NEW iPhone, iTouch, Nano 4th gen & 6th gen classic.
I wonder if they've got information on the adaptor.

That's the best price I've found!

It says it uses the cd changer connection, I take it this means you can only have one or the other? Cd changer or iPod ?
Thanks

Yeah, you sacrifice the cd player, but from what I've read it picks up playlists etc.

Thanks Dan! Guess what I've just bought! 20k miles a year in my car and I will soon no longer need to carry the usb plug and lead to work with me!

Author: danhodson, Location: Derby, UKPosted: Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:53 pm ---- I've just pried my radio from the dash to see how easy it will be to attach. I've got plenty of cable to get to it without unplugging, but even if I do the code has been wrote on the actual stereo. Only thing stopping me now is having it bought for me as a gift for my 23rd or ploughing on and buying it.
