#1: What is this? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 1:38 pm ---- Can someone give me a name for this part that has been welded/sealed on the 406 pipe. I just can't think of what it is/might be called.
(Disclaimer: image is not mine, but Zak from TDOCUK.)

As funny as that is, I am actually being serious and could do with a pretty quick answer so it can be ordered.

#7: Re: What is this? Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:13 pm ---- looks like a bleed nipple for a vacuum line
#8: Re: What is this? Author: Matt, Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:21 pm ---- mmmmmm nipple
#9: Re: What is this? Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:23 pm ---- Nipples are good!
#10: Re: What is this? Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:23 pm ---- what side of the turbo is the pipe on??
inlet or exit
#11: Re: What is this? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:26 pm ---- this is on the pipe that connects to the inlet. However I may not put mine specifically there but maybe on the S/S pipe. I just need to find a way to connect that so that I can connect the boost gauge to it. As I cannot connect it to the wastegate due to the bleed valve/boost controller going there.
#12: Re: What is this? Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:30 pm ---- which side of the air inlet though?
before the turbo or after it??
For a better boost reading its best to put a bleed nipple after your TB if you can
#13: Re: What is this? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:34 pm ---- After the turbo. Its Turbo-> FMIC -> This pipe -> Inlet.
Can you suggest anything to use then Mattie mate?
#14: Re: What is this? Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:38 pm ---- Id try and find something very similar to that you have already,
Or you'd proberly best useing that one, because youd need to block it anyway!
Definatly try and fit it after your TB tho, will get a boost reading of whats going into the engine.

I don't have that though, thats my point! Thats why I want what its called, so I can find it, buy it, and get it put on my 406 pipe!
#16: Re: What is this? Author: Teebag, Location: exhall, bedworth, coventryPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 3:33 pm ---- you dont need that on your pipe..... you can get your boost reading by t-ing of the wastegate pipe as its a hdi. diesels work diferently to petrols and the best place for fitting a boost gauge is the wastegate pipe. i've got mine fitted just after the boost control valve.
#17: Re: What is this? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 3:44 pm ---- Can you draw me a quick picture on paint or something mate? So basically you have the boost control valve AND boost gauge on the same line. ie. .......................................................................................T-Peice
#18: Re: What is this? Author: ExoVyper, Location: Waiting for the tugboats to push me into port (Whitehaven)Posted: Tue Sep 07, 2010 1:57 am ---- all i was going to do is drill into the stainless pipe that runs round your engine cover as it's easeri to get it welding into that. Cause the inlet pipe you have a picture of is only like a pot metal and has a very real chance to snap upon drilling :/
if you want a bleed nipple anyway pal then if you can make it down to where my car is still sitting the bleed nipple is still located in the old boost pipe as i couldn't be bothered taking it out, i also have the tap for the right size
#19: Re: What is this? Author: pudgie, Location: boston lincsPosted: Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:22 am ---- looks like a aftermarket vaccum gauge pipe connector
the only place youll get one of those is if you buy another gauge
hope this helps
if you want to take it out for re-use replace it with a bolt
#20: Re: What is this? Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Fri Sep 10, 2010 3:24 pm ---- if your trying to buy it from a dealer just print out that picture and take to show them if there any good they should be able to sort it out
most dealers are surprisingly helpful if your friendly enough although im surprised mine hasnt killed me due to the 5 years of constant awkward bits iv wanted to order haha
