#16: Re: 1.6 XS Tarmac Rally Project (alot of pics) Author: Marky234, Location: ShrewsburyPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 1:10 pm ---- its a 1600 but plans for the future included either a Mi-16 or a rebuilt and tuned GTi 180 engine.
to build the car it cost bout £5000 as already been said but to enter rallies your looking at around the £400 mark per car depending on profile of the event. Events like the RallyGB are looking more towards £3000 to enter lol.
the reason behind the colour is its a works 206 super 1600 colour and when the total graphics are on and the cars finished it will look the nuts.

#21: Re: 1.6 XS Tarmac Rally Project (alot of pics) Author: spud_owen, Location: ashby de la zouchPosted: Mon Sep 13, 2010 8:33 am ---- the one in the pic is the 206 maxi, super 1600 car used by justin dale, they were wide track proper works jobs, looked a hell of a tool but never really did that well, I never remebered it in that colour scheme either, normally a silver or a dark blue with the total graphics

Stick with the 138 engine as it has more flexibility than the 180
Why is this?

After standalone ecu and a mechanical butterfly 180 engines is better than 138 engines.
Same engine in many ways... VVT not needed, fly by wire is a pain, You need T/B`s to get good power and you will need to fit internals to make it bulletproof, No point in bying a 180 engine that is more expensive only to strip it to bits. Start with a 138, fit 12.5:1 forged pistons, rods and bolts. lighten and balance your bottom end and you got power with bodies. The money you save on buying a 138 over a 180 with probably buy your rods.
Trust me I have done all the homework.

I trust my self. Do you take your homework to teacher. What's your point.
Just joke. Yeah VVT isnt need when you are doing high reving rally engine. But EW10J4S head is not based from J4 head. Its modified version oh EW12 head. That's really very good head. So 138 and 180 crank is not same. But of course if you are buying just engine from scrapyard and price is important i will buy 138 engine and complete engine rebuild with aftermarket parts. Actualy we are doing very serious project on 138 engine with n/a mods. I will post pictures and informations about project.

#28: Re: 1.6 XS Tarmac Rally Project (alot of pics) Author: Marky234, Location: ShrewsburyPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:46 am ---- Right peeps time for a update.
not done alot to her sadly due to money flow problems, moving of house, and losing my job but i have managed to get the cage in roughly and drivers seat mounts made and welded in place.
need to weld the cage mounts in place and position co-drivers seat.
Now the Cage
because the car had a sunroof the cage wouldnt go past the tabs to fix the sunroof in so they had to come off
steering coloum out aswell to allow the front hoop to slide in because it sits behind the dash
finally got the rear hoop in and started to slide the front hoop in
to fit the mounting feet for the rear hoop we had to cut into the inner sills
and the end result
that was a saturdays worth of work with my mate
on the sunday the weather was to bad so didnt touch it but i had the monday off wor so me and my dad carried on and got the mountings in and both hoops of the cage in and door bars mocked up roughly where they have to be welded
thats it for now and i havent touched the car since.
but hopefully in the next month or so i will be moving to a house with a garage so i can work on the girl at night, i should manage especially with the new job at demon tweeks things should come along nicely
will keep you all updated as and when i get stuff done Last edited by Marky234 on Wed Apr 20, 2011 6:23 am; edited 1 time in total
