I had a 1.1 206 at 18, insurance was £1200
Then I got a GTi (138) at 19 & the insurance was £1200 TPFT
What was the upgrade like
As ive got a 1.1 also. Im 18 19 in Nov but only been driving 3 months
To be honest I wouldn't reccomend getting a GTi, the fuel economy compared to the 1.1 206 is atrocious.
Plus a 206 GTi isn't all that quick & I had A LOT go wrong with mine.
I strongly advise you to get a turbo diesel
Lower insurance (My vRS is a group 9, GTi is 14) & lower running costs.
Was thinking about a diesel. A 207 hdi, or a vw mk4 golf TDI
Never been a fan of the shape but they're supposed to be good cars.
The build quality will be a lot better than a 206 but the price will be more.

#18: Re: How old were you? Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 11:14 am ---- I was 26 when I got my first gti and the insurance was only £325 this was because i'd been driving since i was 17 and had 150bhp saxo vts before the gti

just a tip but pointless going fully comp as they deem your insurance invalid if you have a crash and it shows you're way over 1k miles/year. They're a business after all and if they can find a way to not pay then they wont, same with declaring mods here.

It doesn't work now. It needs a battery and a new remote

How will they know?
Say your mileage is 60,000 just tell them that its 80,000
Also you do have point of going for TPFT which is what i will be going for when I renew my insurance.
As a "young" driver, I have a compulsory excess of £450 and then my voluntary excess is £750 when I make a claim.
