This is a fair comment.
1 reason why I wanted this car is I know the history. My bro in law owned it for 2 years. Subura mechanic so it's been mechnically looked after. Paid £1500 for it, 04 plate with 47k on the clock, new timing belt, waterpump, clutch and MOT
2nd reason is all the parts I have sold have gone on bits I need so as of yet I haven't put any money out.
And look at the title Rags to Richs
All this progress in 10 days! Only 7 months to finish it

To be fair i'm proper f****d off now.
Yeah I know I should have bought a standard car but looking at it now it's proper f*****g me off.
Basically the have hit the rear quarters right in to add the skirts, then filler the rear arches all the way to the rear bumper. And there is surface rust on the rear quarters.
Then the front arches they have bent in, again to fit the skirts, so now with the skirts off, on the front you can see the little kick. Doesn't bother me BUT the passenger metal wing has a crack in it, probably from the stress of putting the bend in it. I wondered why the rear of the arch liner had a massive gap.

As a standard one would be around £3000, and I only paid £1500.
Haven't spent a penny on any mods or anything yet. So it's not bad, and people will look at what it was like before, during (standard) and after
#83: Re: From Rags To Richs - E.M.C Demo Car v2 Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 3:14 am ---- Well nothing rear interesting.
Change a rear wheel stud in 5 mins, and cleaned my Idle Control Valve. So it's running a little better.
Fed up of the s**t ride quality and the fact that it bottoms out most of the time, so next mod will be coilovers. Probably lower it a little more than it sits at the moment, but won't slam it until shows as the wife drives it alot more than me, and I value my sump
Also looking of a way to fit a 52mm pod but it's doing my head in.

#85: Re: From Rags To Richs - E.M.C Demo Car v2 Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 3:55 am ---- Not alot of progress still as I have been playing golf mainly and fixing other cars (MG ZR headgasket in the background of the 1st pic lol)
So yesterday I was busy fitting my old bodykit onto a mates car! LMFAO!
One mans rubbish is another mans gold is spot on here! He is having my lowering springs as well next month. lol
So fitted a set of rear mud flaps make it look a little lower Also had a quick spray with black paint on the rear quarters
Got a standard from upper grille for now.
Next up. Modify the front bumper
#86: Re: From Rags To Richs - E.M.C Demo Car v2 Author: mattievrs, Location: LeicesterPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 4:12 am ---- Have you smoothed and sprayed the rear quarters or just used a rattle can on the uneven surface?

Rattle can'd in black at the moment. Waiting for better weather.
Will attack them with a DA soon enough
#88: Re: From Rags To Richs - E.M.C Demo Car v2 Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Mon Jan 24, 2011 2:33 pm ---- Well not everyone likes my updates on FB, but I don't really care now I like them and they are my own ideas
Moved the front numberplate ready for when I start modifying the front bumper. Police around here are s**t hot if it's placed in the window.
Used my old gauge from the 206 in the focus in a custom made surround.
Looking at fitting these seats
Or might have something else lined up

Im amazed in the difference between the normal ones and the "r" ones! I managed to swap my 4300k normals for "r" ones and they are loads better and dont throw the beam pattern out on reflector lights.
Looks good though mate!

I'm not a fan of the orange tinge the standards emit. Good luck with this mate, looks interesting, I prefer it a lot more with the work you've done/stuff you've removed

Rear dampers are proper f****d. Don't even damp now! lol
Car might be taking a back seat then, until next year. Got to see what happens.

#108: Re: From Rags To Richs - E.M.C Demo Car v2 Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Fri Feb 11, 2011 2:22 pm ---- Well went to fit everything yesterday.
Front shocks wouldn't go through the top mount. After a lot of swearing and researching found out FK sent me a VW kit. After a few phone calls to the Ebay seller FK are sending a new set direct to me.
Very bad news though. Both rear dampers are gone, one comes apart and the other one has no gas in. There are no bushes on the rear end at all. As soon as you jack the car up you can move the whole wheel anyway you want. Needs new sway arms and control arms as they are all bent and buckled!
On a plus note strut brace fits

From what i've read, if the plan of selling the moded bits to fund the replacements works i reckon it's a great buy for someone that can be arsed doing the work. Credit to you

All modded parts have been sold. All the money has gone on the mods
Only spent £22 so far on the wheel bearing!
A long way still to go
