#3: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Nov 12, 2010 3:22 pm ---- Don't remove the whole caliper. Just undo the 2x 17/19?mm bolts and pull the big C shaped bit off and get it painted.

#7: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Fri Nov 12, 2010 3:57 pm ---- Im guna have to bleed the brakes anyway as im changing the fronts to brembos at the same time
#8: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Sat Nov 13, 2010 12:12 pm ---- All sorted now. Me nate managed to get the handbrake disconected and they are now down the shop getting painted
#9: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Nov 13, 2010 1:49 pm ---- But they shouldn't paint the whole thing anyway...
#10: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:07 pm ---- what you mean shouldnt paint the whole thing anyway ???
#11: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:35 pm ---- Because it's in 2 parts. There's a alloy block part with the piston and handbrake mechanism. This part doesn't need painting. There's also the C shaped section that's made from steel. That's the only bit that needs painting.
The gold part is the only bit that needs painting...
The rest of the caliper is alloy and doesn't need painting.

#13: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:35 am ---- It doesn't matter if it gets painted but simply polishing it with autosol would have looked much better.
That also means you wouldn't have had the hassle of removing the brake pipe (and bleeding them afterwards) and handbrake cable!
#14: Re: how to remove rear brake callipers Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:51 am ---- Ah tht don't mata then because me mate os doin it all for me. The front brakes had to come off anyway as brembos arw goin on and im changing the master brake cylinder so its only a bot mre bleeding for him to do
