Was thinking when I saw this thread I wouldn't have even considered going through insurance until I knew 100% what the fault was and is it possible to fix yourself as it sounded as it may have not been too bad.

Glad you got it sorted, would have been stupid to write a car off due to that and what a shi** insurance company.
