im not sure if anyone has heard of this before,

for some reason last night when i was driving (slow) thank god, i heard a strange noise, put the brakes on and nothing happened, so drove back and found my brake pad lying on the road, i only had them fitted a few days ago, i find it a bit strange how it popped out, took my wheel off and found there was no fitting kit on it, correct me if im wrong but should 180's have a fitting kit?

no they dont have fitting kits they just sit in a shim and once the caliper is bolted into place they will not come out

take it back mate to what ever idiot fitted them, you cannot go wrong on fitting pads they are one the easyest pads to do

You should have metal retaining clips fitted, if not that'll explain why the pad departed the caliper Laughing

I agree!

its impossible for them to pop out even without the retaining clips

Yeah kieron206gti you would think it was easy but my local Peugeot workshop totally stuffed it up fitting them. Wan%#rs. They didn't seat them properly(notch in groove). Fronted them at the service deak and they told me I don't know what i'm talking about(I'm a Fitter by trade). Well didn't I let loose on this fu#kwit. Had a serious talk to the area manager and he was virtually kissing my ar%e. Not only that, my cousin is married to the owner of that company. I dare say someone got a kick in the bum.

I had this a few months ago and posted up the pictures on here. The angled section of the fitting clip and r-clip were both gone and both set of pads had flown out. Like you I heard a noise in the wheel arch although I was doing '70' on the motorway at the time and looked in the rear view mirror and saw something bouncing along the road, luckily it didn't hit anybody. I had the brakes changed a few weeks before that which was annoying but it was by a friend so didn't go back get him to sort it. The fitting kit was the old one and had a lot of play between the brake shoe and caliper. Lessons learnt here and I'll make sure in the future that a new fitting kit is fitted each time [for the sake of £3]

DIY next time, easy as pie, well undoing certain screws isnt, but the whole procedure is easy!

Most, if not all, new brake pads include new metal clips, if you havent got any, then send them back and buy other ones, ensure the new pads look exactly the same as the old ones (apart from the worn down pad).

You cant go wrong!
