Okay so I bought my 1.4 01 lx a month back and something is really bugging me.

In the drivers footwell there is a puddle on the side nearest the gearstick. It's been there for about 2 weeks...every time I go there.

Not thinking leaky door because it's on the opposite side. Now the entire footwell is soaked all the time.

Would like to know if anyone has had this problem and if they got it fixed.

Was it easy to do? Cheap? Even possible!?

Many thanks. Lewis

It probably is leaking through the door and the water will run to the lowest point. It will be all the snow thats melting.

Difficult to say ATM about the passenger side. Had a few people in it so it's a touch damp because of that. I'm gonna lean more toward the hole under the carpet, I dried it once and it came back by the end of the day.

Thought I'd b sneaky and cover it with a car Matt. But er...who knew those ain't puddle proof lol

Just a side question. I'd like to check for a leak in the floor first (because it will props b cheaper and easier to fix than a heating matrix)

Any tips for removing the carpet?

Surely it's easier to jack the car and look under it than rip carpets up.

My idea would be to check around the reading light, feel if there is a damp patch around it, mine likes to leak through there every now and then lol.

There is a white membrane on the inside of each door behind the door card that stops the water that inevitably gets inside the door from entering the cabin. They are notorious for leaking and most people either overlook them or don't realise the importance of them retaining a good seal. Just had the same problem as you and found the membrane detached at the bottom. Simple to check, just open the door and pour plenty of water on the outer rubber window seal at the base of the glass particularly in any gaps. Then check for water coming out from between the door and card. Don't worry if water comes out of the drains at the bottom of the door, it's meant to in fact you should probably worry if it doesen't.
Good luck Smile
