#1: A puzzel / problem (moving an engine) Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:05 pm ---- Hi guys, well I've got a bit of a problem.
I've got a 206 that I'm breaking & I've sold the engine, however I don't have an engine crane.
Its been dropped out of the car via a jack & blocks of wood, and its now sitting on blocks of wood.
Now I need get the engine out from under the car & up my driveway so a courrier can collect it from the road.
But as I said I don't have an engine crane. But problem is the driveway is all gravel, so a pallet truck won't roll.
I can possibly get some help & man handle it onto a pallet, but then the pallet needs moving up the drive.
I have access to:
Blocks of wood.
A trolley jack
Wooden boards
A pallet truck
An angle grinder.
A pallet
Here's how it currently sits.
So how would you reccomend I move it?
I've got an idea in mind but its a bit long winded.
The person that works out the solution wins a part from the 206 up to the value of £20, or some other goodies

Then just wack the engine on a pallet and drag it up the yard

then you could just roll the pallet truck out over them
#4: Re: A puzzel / problem (moving an engine) Author: Mrs_Howey, Location: WorthingPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:10 pm ---- i would say use the wood to leaver it up to the get the trolley jack under neath to get it up off the floor, of course i would say get a couple of people to help you keep it on the trolley jack, if you have enough wooden boards, line them up down the drive, and try to move the jack down the wooden boards, and also put the pallet at the end of the drive,
Or you could man handle it into the 206 your breaking and roll the 206 down the drive (if it has wheels) and then left it out on to the pallet.
I'll keep thinking how else you could do it

Put the wooden boards down on top of the gravel for the pallet truck.
Lift the engine on to the pallet.
Pick it up with the pallet truck & roll it where needed.
OR
Borrow a counter balance truck & all your problems are solved

We did attempt to lift the front of it but its pretty heavy still.
There is a small pond behind the car so it cant be rolled backwards.
I'm thinking of cutting the front out with the angle grinder & dragging it out.

not recomended there heavy
Id put some wood down to make tracks and drag the engine

I tried that but I had to give a refund as the courrier needs it at the top of the drive as the lorry cant get through the gate.

I was thinking of something along those lines, but lifting it onto a pallet, thats on a pallet truck on a wooden board. And then rolling the pallet truck via laying down boards.
Just after other ideas incase someone had a better one.

Put engine on wooden board put a hole in wooden board tie a piece of rope threw it and drag down the drive with another car. Just an idea.

A lorry cant get down the drive due to the gate & cattle grid
