Yeah Jamie I've thought of throttle bodies / 1.8T conversion / supercharger. Not seriously though. Can't imagine me ever scraping together the sort of money something like that would cost if I'm honest, aswell as the extra insurance costs, and the inconvenience of not having a car whilst it was being carried out etc etc. Also I don't think I've ever heard of a car with major engine work that isn't constantly needing attention to keep it running as it should, wouldn't fancy that! I always remind myself of why I part ex'd the TT for this aswell, for the very reason that I wanted something cheaper to own that's still good fun.
I'd probably go for a full leather retrim before I considered engine work anyway, and there's still exterior bits I wanna do. It goes round corners like it's on rails anyway and it's quick enough to keep me entertained.
..... That was the long way of saying I'd love 200bhp+ but it's probably last on the priority list, the power is all well and good but wouldn't fancy the associated costs that come with it, I'm enjoying modding it aesthetically too much
#129: Re: Ross' VW Lupo GTI - Wheels & Coilovers are on! Pics pag Author: Ross, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Sat May 01, 2010 8:51 am ---- Just had all my wheel geometry sorted before I destroyed my tyres! Took it to Chemix in Halesowen initially to be told it wouldn't get on the ramp as it was too low, so then had to go to Chemix in Wordsley as they have different ramps.
I knew my front passenger side wheel was massively cambered, and it was, got a read-out of -3.33 degrees (minutes & seconds) , other side was -2.39. Toe was at 2 degrees (I think they were toeing out).
The coilovers didn't allow enough adjustment camber-wise to get them back to what they should be! One side was running -2 degrees and the other -1.4. I asked him to even them up so I'm now running -2 degrees up front, looks wicked I have to say, I'll just have to keep an eye on my tyre wear, have been told Nankang's are tough as old boots though and stand up well to lots of camber. And now my steering wheel isn't on the p**s when driving straight, which is nice.
The guy who did it was sound and was happy to let me watch. He also taught me a few things which was cool. Came to £58 in total which I didn't think was bad at all from what I've heard other people have paid!
Also got this nice print out:
Oh and whilst it was up on the ramp it gave me the opportunity to see if the driveshaft is hitting the chassis, and it is! Didn't look too major, but might consider getting it notched.

Pics pag Author: Ross, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Mon May 03, 2010 1:44 pm ---- Washed the car for the second time this long weekend, been doing a few miles as I love driving it just lately , and being black it shows the dirt quite quickly! It's getting loads of attention, a middle aged man stopped in his tracks today whilst he had a good look , good times.
Took some pictures in an attempt to show the front camber, as it looks pretty much perfect in my opinion . Not sure if you'll be able to tell from the pics though, it's quite subtle. The rest of the pics are just general wh0ring really, and to show the lowness.
I love how, even next to my mom's tiny C1, the Lupo still looks like a toy car
