I know this post is old but i had the same problem and tried disconnecting the sensor and the fault has gone!!! even when reconnecting again.

Car seems louder on idle though ..possibly more responsive and quicker too so wont complain but could this be linked to this? and also for anyone who has tried this does the warning come back on? fuel economy deplete?

and thank you to whoever figured out this fix!!!!!

Think this is unsolvable isnt it? reviving an old post here but just looking round for info as my 180 does this. No loss of performance or anything, i read on another forum to drive on mtorway/dual carriageway at normal speed (65-70) and turn igntion off for a few secconds, flick ignition back on and fault clears. I seem to get the fault when my fuel dips under qaurter of a tank so i usually do the ignition flip on way to work. Not had any serious issues so i havent took it it. Think its just something you have to put up with being a 180 owner.

Diagnostic light comes on while drving then a fault code will be stored, isnt difficult to extract the fault code & fix the fault.

Remember the ABS & ESP plus the airbag system need the ignition switched ON to actually work Wink

I know Mr BSI but its only off for a few seconds so aslong as its not rush hour no drama. Plus if i took it in everytime it came up id be adding the Peugeot technicians on facebook after seeing them so much. Dont want to go down the long road of changing random sensors for it to keep happening.

Just get it scanned then you'll know what it is

After a set number of times the ECU runs out of memory and needs replacing or reflashing I think.

Correct. I didn't know this until yesterday. A question I have about this, how does it actually fail? Stop working totally or bring up a code like ECU?

Where has the information come from to confirm this will ruin the ECU's memory?

This fault will not block the ECU as he isn't clearing the fault. This fault is intermittent which occasionally switches to permanent, hence the eml coming on.
