#1: Dead car :( Author: js206, Location: Farnborough, HampshirePosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:49 pm ---- Hi guys, unlocked the car last night to get something out and the alarm started going haywire, just kept going off, and the key fob stopped workibg so I disconnected the battery but it was still going off, I somehow managed to stop it but now the central locking doesn't work and worst of all the car won't start, all the lights come on inside when the doors open and when ignition is on but when I try to start it everything cuts out and it doesn't even click, the car is only used at weekends so could it be a dead battery? Sorry for the essay, any help would be great thanks.

Same thing happend to my partners punto this week and has potentially saved us money which could of been spent on alsorts to try and fix the car because we got the battery checked

Could it just be the cold? Should I just leave it until it gets a bit warmer? Thanks for any help

#8: Re: Dead car :( Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 9:40 am ---- How did you disconnect the battery?
It is multiplexed so there is a set procedure to prevent the BSI from corrupting, click the Beginners Guide to a 206 link in my sig, and use that procedure to do a softboot.
Check the alternator isn't under or overcharging as well, as this could cause the airbag lights to come on.
Anti-pollution fault is a generic fault, it could be anything, which has led to the car been in limp mode.

The battery was charged and when put in the car it would try to start and the automatically lights would flash as if the car was temporarily starting then turning off again, then it started slowing down like the battery was slowly dying but i put it on charge again and it said it was half charged so i put it back in the car, followed Lee's guide of connecting and disconnecting the battery but when the ignition is switched on all the power cuts out! Please someone help, this is starting to do my head in big time.
Thank you!
