Yes, the famous coil pack problems, replaced ours last year, about 13-14 months ago, yesterday while standing next to our car I could hear what sounded like an electric arcing problem, and did notice the other day that the car felt like it have dirty fuel would judder a bit then would be ok, any how, when i looked under the bonnet (around 5ish, last night) could easily see a spark coming thru the resin back of the coil pack and discharge in to the top of the rocker cover.

Here is my problem, we trade the car in on thursday! for n nice shine new car! do i leave the car off the road and drive it to the trade in on thursday. do i get a second hand unit from a scrap yard or do i bit the bullet and get a new coil pack? dont know if I can just put insulating tape over the back of it just the stop this problem? Any suggestions would be nice at this point.

Thanks Steve

That actually sounds really dangerous mate. I be very worried about the live "naked" spark, especially around the fuel injector area! It could end up with an electrical fire at the very least.I would seriously take it off the road and tell the dealership the problem and possibly get it towed there as a precaution. It could even leave someone dead if you dont tell them of the problem.

Leave it off the road.

Drive it down gently to the dealership Thursday.

Keep your mouth shut about the problem.

Do the paper work & drive of in your new car.

The dealer is just gonna punt it of to the auctions anyway.

Good call

although a good way to fix for a good 2 days is to spray some wd40 on the coil pack and the rocker cover, it stops the sparking for at least 2 days

even this is quite unsafe at least your getting rid of the car mate to some dealer

I have to be honest. Even if you did get rid of the car, without fixing it this could cause serious damage and could like people say catch fire... Lets just hope there are no news reports about a 206 catching fire in North Shields...
Or atleast told the dealership after you signed for your new car.

It couldve cost £15 and saved someones life...

Seems to be just me thinkg that.

The dealership should check the whole car over before selling/getting rif of the car!
