#1: Sighh, so much for that! Author: EDP407, Location: Melksham, WiltshirePosted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 5:22 am ---- After my last thread about how great my 306 is and how pleased I am with it, I start it up this morning and something is wrong.
ABS light is displayed and the car won't go any faster than 20mph and when I rev it it revs really slowly and no higher than 2000rpm.
Perhaps I have to rethink the new car situation again...
#2: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 5:37 am ---- has it gone into limp mode?

to be honest I am seriously considering it. Been looking at 307's etc but hear horror stories about them as well. I had a 206 for my first car, a Flamenco red 52 plate 1.4 and was sound. Gonna have a look through autotrader now because u can pick em up for tuppence now

Snow tends to wreck havoc with ABS on some cars in the snow.
#7: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 6:03 am ---- Later 306's ABS should be able to flash out a fault code with the dash light if it's the Bosch 2E ABS system fitted

#10: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: Lecktorious, Location: ScotlandPosted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 6:18 am ---- Try starting it up again. My 206 has kicked into limp mode before, cleared itself when I took the key out the ignition and restarted it.

#12: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 6:45 am ---- Are the brake lights working correctly?
I know older Pugs if the brake light bulbs have failed the ABS warning light will come on during the pre start check.

ABS light should come on for around 5 seconds during pre start check then go out.

#16: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 7:55 am ---- Have a look under the bonnet for the ABS unit.
If its a Bosch one find the 10 digit ID number & post it up.
It will look something like X XXX XXX XXX
If it turns out to be the Bosch 2E system you can easily flash out the fault codes with the ABS dash warning light

Problem fixed by just melting away the snow that must have been blocking the ABS sensor
#19: Re: Sighh, so much for that! Author: Lecktorious, Location: ScotlandPosted: Sun Dec 19, 2010 10:32 am ---- Snow trapped around the driveshaft?
