#1: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:25 pm ---- This morning I was on my way out this morning to find my car had decided to take the aspect of quiksilver to a whole new level and made her very own wave pool... in the footwells.
There was an inch and a half to begin with in the passengers footwell, wasnt till after I took half of it out I decided to take some photos.
All the other footwells were soaked through aswell, even the front seats were wet.
Ive managed to get the water itself out, but when the car is stood for a while its gathers together again.
How do I dry it out completly in this weather??
EDIT: It does normally have the original quiksilver mats in, but I toom them out so I could get the water out, before anyone says why have you got no mats.
Heres the photos I took:
You can see where the water has dripped off the seat and onto the plastic bit.
Passengers footwell, was twice as much in there it originally covered the whole floor.
Thats how deep it was half empty
WAVE POOL!!!
Drivers side, which is quite obvious really lol.
Behind drivers seat.

#3: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:37 pm ---- Im not 100% sure how it happened, ran my hand around the edges of the car and the ceiling but its as though someone has just literally poured it in the footwells and on the front seats.

That was my first thought, but then how do you explain the front seats being soaked, and when you sit on the your ass is wet?
I was staring at it for 15 minutes with my mouth open in shock when I opened the door lol

Author: namgaj, Location: Chasing Ash, Addaz and Lee........... hopefully catching Addaz and havin fun :PPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:39 pm ---- maybe rear window seals- check your cupholders in the back to see if there wet and flip the back seat up and check under it
#7: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:40 pm ---- I hope you get it sorted and it doesnt happen again, I think you are going to need a few.. hundred sillica gel packets in there!
The insides of my dads car windows had ice on them this morning, I bet motor factors are having a great time with this weather
#8: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:40 pm ---- Ant... ive vhecked everything possible. Only the front seats are wet and all the floors. The seat are dry underneath at the back.
My main question is how to dry it out lol, although you guys are probably thinking how do I fix it to stop it happening again
#9: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: namgaj, Location: Chasing Ash, Addaz and Lee........... hopefully catching Addaz and havin fun :PPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:41 pm ---- door membrane then inside the doorcard

Take the doorcard off, and there will be a white foam sheet on the door which SHOULD be sealed all round the edge- my guess is it aint

Silica gel in bulk? Cat litter! (not the clay sort, the fancy crystal sort).

Thats alot of water for overnight
#16: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: MNARAA, Location: In a traffic jamPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:48 pm ---- Still best to soak up what you can with a towel first, and maybe dry it out a bit with a hairdryer too. Silica gel should finish dehumidifying the car nicely though, which will help with misting/icing up inside in this weather.
#17: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: PUG91, Location: ShropshirePosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:51 pm ---- That's a hell of alota water bet it smells abit aswell, hope you get it sorted soon!!
#18: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: pug206lx, Location: Taking a gearbox off somewherePosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:51 pm ---- When you've sorted the problem, you could put one of those electric dehumidifiers in there for a few hours.
i did it to a car not long ago and it dried it really well
#19: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:58 pm ---- I agree it does seem like far too much to be over night, has the car felt damp recently before today?
#20: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: MNARAA, Location: In a traffic jamPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:59 pm ---- Perhaps putting a snowman in the passenger seat so you could use the car sharing lane wasn't such a good idea...

Nah lol, hes never ever been in this car yet. I have thought about drilling the floor so it can drain away.
Shaw-pug wrote:

Nope, always make sure they are shut at night. Purely to stop things like this happening.
kencogurl wrote:

I already have, and my mate whos a mechanic but he cant use it for things like this at his garage, it is purely for them to valet cars.

The only things in the car that are wet are the carpets and 2 front seats.
No water anywhere els what so ever.
Spanerman wrote:

Nope
The car has dried out quite a bit, smells a little now.
Had newspaper on the floors with a towel over the top and newspaper on the seats with a plastic sheet over the seats again to stop me getting a wet a**e.
Apart from that the car is okay
#29: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Devon-Derv, Location: Paignton, DevonPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 2:28 pm ---- Get someone to pour some water over the car and sit inside and watch where the waters coming in. You might want to wear armbands and a snorkle as a precaution
#30: Re: Whole new level of quiksilver!! Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 2:40 pm ---- I had a hose and power washer on it today too see. Didnt drip in anywhere. I went around all the seals and everything to work it out. But there was nothing indictating a leak, was as though someone had poured it in

Is there any chance it could have got in through the roof and dripped through the reading light?

When I read the post I went and checked, def not the windscreen. And the roof is as dry as a biscuit. Checked around the light fitting too.
