#1: car won't start :-( Author: Mish, Location: MidlandsPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 12:29 pm ---- I've just searched the forums and didn't find anything specific to my problem so here goes...
Just got back from a short 15min drive, all was fine...then parked up in my driveway, turned the ignition off and the interior light didn't come on like usual...so I tried to turn the ignition on and nothing...everything was dead, no lights on the dash either...no idea what it could be?
Never had a problem starting the car in the last 6yrs
Any ideas?...

From the -ve on the battery to the gearbox is the main one

Nope no power at all, no lights either...there is a click everytime I try and turn the ignition on but nothing else happens
I'll check the battery terminals...how do I check the earth under the gearbox?
Ta

when you get clicking its a sign of a dead battery

#10: Re: car won't start :-( Author: NathanG, Location: Ebbw Vagas (Wales)Posted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 2:06 pm ---- Try attaching a jump lead from the earth of the battery to the gear box somewhere. If the car starts then your earth strap is knackered. Same thing happened to me, stater motor was clicking so it was working but no power, tried a jump lead as it was the easiest thing to try and rule out, all's mint once again.
#11: Re: car won't start :-( Author: Mish, Location: MidlandsPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 3:52 pm ---- The earth wasn't connected properly to the -ve on the battery and had snapped off...bought a new connector and all sorted now
