Big Induction Trouble!

So I was just driving along and BONK! The cone filter is bouncing along the road in my rear view mirror!

So, it's knackered.. Nothing can be done to save it! It looks like it had a drainpipe section holding it in, and that has weakened and snapped off!

I need a replacement filter ASAP as I don't feel like driving round without one Sad
where's the best value for money place to get one, and would size increase performance? If I bought a smaller cone filter would it increase pressure or anything? Or should I try and get a filter of the same size?

I'll try and measure it later and get pics.
It's pretty aggrevating having it break off due to a weak pipe section.

Put the original back on and just fit a aftermarket panel filter

I've heard that a thousand times lol. I don't want to do that. The induction is fine! I just need filter advice.

yeah sorry didnt see your post i must have wrote mine as you posted yours!

imo i would go for a pipercross Smile go for the full induction kit as well instead of just a cone get something like the viper, with the cone its gonna get warm air from the engine bay where as with the viper you get a feed to put to get some real good cold air in there Smile

New cone filters are less than £20 on eBay (universal ones)

Failing that - RaidHP foam filter which I had on my 180 (about £40+).
Or PiperX Viper (£100+)

Mine caught on some roadworks and pulled the whole pipe off, so I just replaced it with a RaidHP because it did the job perfectly and sounded good lol

EDITED due to a spelling mistake Embarassed

Well I have the actual induction pipe, Ive got the GSR one which is nice and low so hot air is not problem. (although falling off apparently is..)

Do you think a universal would be any good? I was just wondering if I could tale advantage of the situation by upgrading the actual cone..

Peter (CPH) (AKA 'GSR') buys the filters for his GSR kits from HK/China, basically they are the same as the ones off eBay.
I do not think GSR carry stock of the filters tbh, but MEGA might know (he is on PerformanceC2)

wow, you really are the fountain of knowledge! I'll get over there and PM the MEGA then!

I was stupid and refitted it without measuring it! DOH! Now I don't know what size I'm looking for!

The GSR pipework is alright, the filters aren't the greatest of quality though. Expect to wait anything up to 3 months for one by what I've seen.

If you just need a filter for the time being, look for a universal Green / K&N Filter with the right diameter to fit the pipework you've got already. If you can afford a better bespoke kit I'd go down that route.

how doya mean a better bespoke kit? as in the whole system? or some special cone?

I'll whip it off tomorrow to measure it, as my best mate has given me some christmas money specially to sort my car's problems out!!

Ant, Performance C2 is down! Sad

I thik I'll get an injen hydroshield to go with this one.
Puddles and rain are evil when you have a kit this low!
