#1: GTi 180 electric problems!!!! Author: EuroPeugeot, Location: SW EnglandPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 9:15 am ---- I have a 2004 GTi 180.
Every say 1/10 times I attempt to start my car, all electrics die. Everything, no horn, hazards, lights nothing!
It's as-if there is no battery at all. Maybe just a loose wire or something. Or maybe the battery is dying (it is a Bosch Silver batter, about 1 year old, so should be still fine. It seems strong to me)
To get it going again, I give the battery and fuse box a hit and shake and after about 10 seconds the electrics start up again, and the car starts as normal.
Maybe a loose earth? Where are main earth points on my car?
Anyone else had the same problem?

Check the battery terminals are clean & tight.
Check the earth lead is ok where it connects to gearbox & body.
Check the main + feed in the BM34 fusebox under the bonnet is clean & tight.

Its under the battery box & then on the inner wing, follow the earth cable from the battery connection & you will find what your looking for
One on top of the gearbox & then looped of on to the body shell.

I'll have ago at doing this on the weekend.
I hope this fixes my problem! Otherwise its going to be a real headache finding the fault!

Also check the main + connection in the BM34 fusebox under the bonnet, I have heard of the securing nut coming loose.
A Bosch battery ( made by Varta ), I doubt it would be faulty.
Anyway it's under warranty if it was
