No 206's came with HID's as standard.

The 180 has VVT and a tubular manifold off the top of my head. Smile

the general consensus is that, if you are buying a car to be standard, the 180 is better.. but if you want to tune a car, apparently the GTi is easier to do.

well id like a farily standard pokey engine to go in my rally car but all the bsi problems and stuff is putting me well off them, i know you can take this off an run omex or some sort of management but this is going down the never ending road of a money pit, so im thinking a 140 engine with few minor mods

The GTi138 will also run multiplexing if you get a '51plate or newer.

Non-plexed GTi137/8's also run a BSI

thats that idea out the window then! with our sort of rallying it can get quite rough and offen end up with alternator problems and stuff , and i heard you cant bump start 180's ? looks like the electrics will be the weak point!

Using jump leads on a mux is a bit of a taboo, but plenty of people do it. It's just it can cause a power surge and play havoc with the BSI

There has been instances on here where jump starting a multiplexed 206 can fry the BSI, causing a hefty outlay of money in repair bills.

The 180 engine does have a quite a few differences but is based on the same lump as the GTI138 EW10.

For the purpose your seeking, i'd be tempted with the 138 engine EW10J4.
