For road rallying, why not just buy a lamp pod? (esp if vision is that important).

tbh, the 180 is gonna be a pain in the a**e if you wanna mess about with the engine (VVT is causing problems for Jamie atm i think).

Get a non plexed 138, its much much easier to work on and will more than likely cope better with your mods. 160 shouldnt be much more than cams, TBs and standalone management.

Tbh, if you strip out as much as you can from the interior, rollcage it, uprate brakes/pads. you'll see a massive improvement over standard form just from that.

I'd expect a fair bit more power with those modifications!

For a reliable 160-180 bhp then I'd just go for a standard 180 engine.

You cant use a lamp pod for road rallies, and all of the major interior parts much remain in Smile

yep for road rallying the rules are quite strict.

no lamp pods
no discharge lights unless the car come out the factory with them
no lightforce lights
interior must still have rear seats and most of the trim
engine mods are anything goes aslong as you dont change it from the original fueling system so you cant put ITBS or turbos or anything like that.

there is a guy who runs a 206 cup car and as they were produced by peugeot he can run everything that it come out the factory with like the cup inlet manifold and stuff but he has to stick to the 1600 engine, i think he has got about 190bhp but the engine lacks torque and doesnt seem to come on cam untill about 3500 rpm!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB-e0xW79aw

thats him on one of the few daylight sections we use not very impressive but you get the idea Smile

thanks for all your input so far

but to be fair, power from 3500 all the way down to 9000 is pretty amazing, plus i don't suppose you have much time using rpm below 3500 in rally?

you would be surprised we get alot of tight hairpins and controls which requires alot of stop starting so something with less than 190 bhp but more torque would defiantly benefit on some of the more tighter stages
