#166: Re: Jamie's Blue 206 GTI 180 - Update 29/03/12 Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Sat Mar 31, 2012 2:50 am ---- Not too bad if you get a decent car and new parts, I have dints and scratches etc, not worth getting them sorted and everything is second hand that I buy... tends to be a bit battered. As long as it looks better than when you started it's enough to be satisfied
#167: Re: Jamie's Blue 206 GTI 180 - Update 29/03/12 Author: JamieM, Posted: Mon Apr 23, 2012 11:40 am ---- Right well, it looks like if all goes to plan I may have some new shoes for this bad boy,
A few nights back I scraped my 180 alloys on a curb missing a deer and I hate curbing! And as they are my only set I can't just get them refurbed!
So if all goes to plan these are what might be heading to a 206 near me!
Here is a quick Photoshop of how it could look lowered aswell!
Quite like them, hope I get them now!!!
If I do win them, I might buy some black housing for my morrettes...
Pic
Photoshop's not perfect but you get the idea, unsure though if I can be asked, I think it looks good but doesn't look very OEM ok the wheels will be aftermarket but I can pull them off because they're motorsport styles lol
I'll probably buy these alloys and then, refurbish my ones and sell the OZ's on if I don't get on with them but I have a funny feeling they will look awesome in reality!
Comments welcome,
Jamie

#170: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 - Update 23/04/12 Author: JamieM, Posted: Tue Apr 24, 2012 6:22 am ---- @craigdmjv
I agree it would look good but I don't really like painting things, if I do the headlights I will just be buying some housing and having them sprayed professionally gloss black
If I do go for this look though SP grilles will be off, for either ZUN sport black grilles or stock grilles.
@Slowride
It's a possibility mate, but as above.
The only problem with the smoked look is I don't want gash aftermarket LED's shame they don't do rear lights like they do for the saxo smoked.
Look OEM but are black!!!
Looks like I have these wheels just have to go and collect them!, only one issue,.. it's far away over 3 hrs away and one centre cap is missing grrr!!!
#171: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 - Update 23/04/12 Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:26 am ---- How come the sudden change from OEM look?
I think it could look good as in the last Photoshop.
Not a fan of the black zunsport grills though. Seen them on an aegean in FCS 09 and looked abit poo imo

Well it's mostly down to the fact my alloys are curbed and I don't have a spare set that I can bung on while I get these refurbed. I like everything to be mint and if it isn't I loose heart for it lol.
I also fancied some lighter smaller alloys because the ride p**ses me off tbh. The roads in London make driving this car ball ache as if the clutch isn't tiring enough in traffic!
Ideally I was after some 16" Turinis in anthracite but I had an offer of some 17" Super T's that I really like, not in my first choice colour of white but it's an offer I can't refuse.
As for the Zunsports I haven't seen them properly tbh someone just recommended me them. If I go with this smoked style look I may go for stock grilles.
The wheels are 98% happening, the morettes however... probably about 25% probability of materialisation.
#173: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 - Update 23/04/12 Author: JamieM, Posted: Wed Apr 25, 2012 6:14 am ---- RIGHT,
I want a K+N Typhoon, want more noise and that blue pipe in my bay. I can't see it being that much worse on performance than a CDA so...
For £90 posted my Simota CAIS is up for sale,
I won't beat around the bush. They're 105 + 20 posted from the US new,
It's been on the car for under a year so saving £35.
Looks like this fitted
Kit when new
The kit will has two oil breather filters one needs to be done up very tight because the rubber was snapped by fitter doing it up too tight and has to be done up higher up where the rubber is wider. The metal bracket has eroded and snapped, the kit doesn't seem to need it as mine is still on very tight. Also the metal intake pipe has some slight scratching. - Being honest
None of the above affects how the kit performs, it still looks ace in my bay right now and I can get up to date pictures if you require.
I can't post the kit until my new filter has arrived, but my new filter depends on this sale. So if you're wanting a great sounding kit for your 180 and cba to spend out full wack and play the waiting game from the US - took nearly 3 weeks to arrive IIRC this is a great option. In general the consensus is a CDA/CAI is best for gains on a N/A car.
Any questions feel free to PM me.

#175: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 - Update 23/04/12 Author: JamieM, Posted: Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:24 am ---- Change of plan it's a waste of money don't know what got in to me!
Won't gain on my enclosed kit and it's + at the minimum of £100. Looks nice but realised there are better things to waste my money on
I doubt I'm going to buy them alloys next weekend too.
Infact I'm going back to my initial plan, run & maintain the car & sell it as soon as I get comfortable enough in a job for something German that's built well & probably auto! Don't get me wrong, I do like the car but I've been there done that and I almost fell in to the trap as if the 180 isn't already a money pit!
Penny dropped on another forum where a thread on your favorite previous cars was started and I went through all my old pics of every car I'd owned and realised what a waste of money.
It's never going to be my old ST.
#ThankGodIRealisedBeforeItWasTooLate
I'll update with maintenance though just to aid a future sale.

Sold it 3yr ago to my mum decided to change my life around and quit my FT job of 5 yrs to go uni for better prospects!
#178: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Fri May 04, 2012 6:32 am ---- Well I got cold feet and knocked all that on a the head. Kinda realised how much of a waste of money it was.
Now I have another f*****g problem...
A lady has further illustrated that women should not be behind the wheel of a car hurhurhur.
Yeah you guessed it, she's hit my car.
No structural damage, bar the arch moulding, similar to a VT arch was ripped off and obviously major scrap-age around surrounding area.
Seriously p**sed off atm, like a chav on r0iDz yo!.
