#196: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Wed Aug 29, 2012 9:32 am ---- Ok so first impressions are good it pains me to say it.
I'm not running an uprated panel but it feels good, power delivery is smoother and induction note has massively been reduced *not such a good thing for the chav inside*.
I would say there is probably not much difference between the modded stock setup and the Simota with the new airfeed.
I had to do some adjusting to my initial concept if you like... I.e. cutting the length down on the long pipe as it poked out of underneath the car. It now sit's perfectly and the feed at the bottom was extended and a mini plastic trumpety thing placed on the end.
I also 3m thick black tape where I connected the pipes to make sure no air escaped, it was all tight and stuff but every little helps!
I've noticed that the front end doesn't clonk as much over bumps now. I'm guessing that is due to all the metal piping being removed.
I've also noticed pops/bangs are louder and much more frequent now, after 100 or so miles of adjusting to it. (Probably not a good thing) maybe the car is still adjusting the mixture?
Anyway, I didn't get any pictures of the finished article but I would say this is probably the best setup for gains. I know it's not a new thing for people to prefer a replacement pannel as it's cheaper than going all out, however for 180s the stock air system is quite complex and I can only think probably more restrictive because of this, so pannel and a modded airfeed seem to work bang on.
I can't prove the stock system is restrictive with science or any real data I just think it, so don't burn me lol.
#197: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Thu Aug 30, 2012 1:24 pm ---- Here are some pics of the stock airbox & custom feed.
The taping looks messy, it wasn't really required but I just wanted to make sure 100% no air could escape. The picture of how it was without the heavy duty 3m tape looks more aesthetically pleasing lol. I have however found a new spot to clean just under my airbox pipes look abit tatty. Pow.
Sorry about quality, they're Iphone pics lol.

#199: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Thu Aug 30, 2012 1:38 pm ---- Thanks mate
#200: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Thu Sep 06, 2012 9:15 am ---- Induction kit is back on. I've finally made up my mind, the kit definitely makes it pull harder & sound throatier.
On another note,
You may remember the insurance fiasco where my car was hit and kept having to take it back, well again it's had to go back but this time I wrote a LETTER lol.
Today 06/09/2012 I had a paint inspector from Acorn Assessors LTD and he made it clear he hated Peugeot's and wouldn't have one if someone gave him one but he likes my one lol.
He went around the car and was shocked at the overall condition of the car. He can't believe I use this everyday, predominately motorway miles bar paint chips.
He's said after a lengthy chat if this was a normal Peugeot the level of work would be acceptable but it's not a normal Peugeot & it went in with mint paintwork and should have come back like it. & that he can tell when people are taking the p**s but he says he doesn't blame me, I showed him a couple of trohpies I picked up for detailing & my detailing kit lol. At first he thought I was mad but the more I showed him the more he appreciated it.
I got a phone call from him just now and he's pushing for compensation & the work to be done
Obligatory pictures straight from my iphone lol
Rear arch fell off on the M25 so they have to replace it & the shoddy work!
#201: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Sat Sep 08, 2012 11:55 am ---- Decided to change the badge situation over in the engine bay in a bid to try and be slightly different! More changes to come!
Also cleaned her lol
A couple of bits were missed but now have been done - under bonnet water marks & Exhaust buffed off lol.
#202: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Minor update Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:18 am ---- Looking good Jamie!
Let's hope you get a substantial payout for the lack of care put into the garage repairing the damaged paintwork. It's hard to understand how they get so much work when they don't do a good enough job to start with, had my sp arches arches resprayed few weeks ago and as easy as they were to do they still weren't done properly.
Least they are sorting it out for you mate, maybe you could buy your old vts back

Thanks mate yeah I think the gp aren't bothered about the state of their cars that's how these companies work!
If it's a substantial payout my old VTS is for sale ATM (brembos removed) dno what to do, I have a MK2 Golf GTi & the 180 needs some bits done (stone chip removal & some general suspension bushes).
Will have a think, plough money in to my 180 or the mk2 or save my old VTS from kids!

Can see why you were p**sed off..! Lovely pug180..Wish mine was as nice,but if it was i would never drive it for getting dirty or some crap woman driver doing that too my car..Its bad enough peoples car doors doing damage which bloody winds me up,but god what she did,i would have lost the plot mate..
Gotta say its a lovely car..Drive the saxo,keep the pug wrapped up in a garage in an air bubble and bring it out for a bit of sunshine now and again...Its too nice to let some t*** ruin all your hardwork....
#206: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Minor update Author: DanT, Location: Torbay, EnglandPosted: Sun Sep 16, 2012 5:54 am ---- Looks super clean as always mate, glad you decided to keep the induction kit on, it looks a million times better even before the performance is considered.
Love this picture too by the way, im not sure why but it stands out to me
#207: Re: Jamie's Blue GTi180 Minor update Author: JamieM, Posted: Mon Sep 17, 2012 10:06 am ---- Thanks guys,
@MattyP
Decided to let the VTS vision go, it will never be the same for me knowing it's had quite a few owners now 4 since me IIRC that's the trouble with cheap cars, kids and chavs can buy them. It still looks good though defo still one of the best about, the current owner removed my brembos.
@Scottyboy
Thanks for taking the time to read my, pretty progress less thread lol
The car is a very good example bar stone chips :@. I did loose interest in it after the lady ripped my SP arch off, luckily it is only clipped on and damge was done by clips ie scratches no dinks! few.
Cars always going to be a daily bro, the gf has it atm somewhere in whetstone as she works there. My MK2 Golf GTi will be wrapped up when it's how I want it though
@DanT
Thanks mate, yeah idc what people say about them not gaining or may gain ect I drive the car daily and know it's performance inside out and whether or not it's made or lost a few bhp is another thing it's how it drives that makes it for me and it drives noticeably better to me with it on.
