The guys at the garage i take my car too said peugeot's aren't the most reliable of cars but i've had my car since feb 08 and the only issue i had when i bought it was needed a new coilpack, i think the only reason i had serious ecu was when i changed the factory bonnet vent to a sp vent.

I do like the saxo's even if they do get a bad rep, had a vts before the 206 which was cammed and treated to wilwood brakes but I think for the money the 180 is def a car to get even with the problems that may arise

Hmm who knows what caused your problems, I mean I'm runnning SP vents but I can't remember where the ECU is on a 138 been a long time since I saw a pic of one,

What made you go from a VTS to the baby GTI? bet you noticed a huge difference in performance lol!

180 is an upgrade over the Saxo, I do miss my VTS often when things go wrong with the 180! my VTS never had any problems, the 180 seems riddled with them lol!!

My sp vent had a gap between the plastic and bonnet so think water was getting in through there and affected the ecu that way. The ecu is in the same location as on the 180, only difference is there's no plastic cover on the 138.

Tbh my saxo had more power than my gti and was much newer, so i've actually gone backwards lol but i liked the shape of the 206 and at the time felt it had more styling options than the saxo

this was it mate, went from a 1.4 westcoast to this at 21, stupid thing had a paddle clutch fitted Wall Bang

the only issues i had with my vts was the engine mounts breaking 3 times causing damage to gearbox/housing and clutch but also a ruptured pipe which caused the engine not to keep cutting out

Tbh I won't lie I've never been a fan of the Dimma kit, front bumper is okish certainly rare now though ha, but I appreciate the effort that went in to the car and it must have been gutting to see it end that quick! I remember that thread!

With the mods & 150bhp it would have ripped the a**e off the 206 infact probably leave a 180 aswell lol your pug does look loads better though tbh Smile

I'm currently pricing up some bits Smile

Full side respray! including new side strips & clips new SP trim at the cost of a bag of sand, to my satisfaction level i.e not a quick poor quality job because of the price quoted by insurance. I can feel the love for the car starting to crawl back to me Smile

My brother and dad found it in the auto trader pretty much as it was when i sold it bar the rear bumper and show cage but if i ever got another vts i'd keep it standard as standard is best

it certainly was a beast to drive, do miss a bit of wheel spinning lol

Thats great news mate, about time they got it sorted for you!

Thanks dude Smile

Today updateooooooo

So this morning my car must have known it was going back to the bodyshop and since the last experience has developed a phobia... she flat her battery so I required a jump start LOLOLOLOL JOKES.

Anyway haha we arrived and the car is in.

I've added a few extras to the list, the vinal B pillars are being sprayed black as he needs to remove one but can't source new ones and I don't want it to stay blue. Seconly the SP fuel cap is cracking and I don't like it sticking out as a feature anymore so it's going body coloured. And finally he is sorting out a few chips here and there :).

Now for the exciting bit...

What's this I hear you cry?

Yup only my bargain coilovers!

I wasn't happy with the way they were packaged but I can't complain at the price I paid. They rubbed together so some of the paint on the dampers - mostly on the yellow rubber part at the top has scratched off revealing the black.

Built em' up

Boxed again...

I can't wait to slam it haha.

Next on the list are the Vibra technic mounts, I'll have it all done after xmas.

Also...

Courtesy car time...

First impressions, s**t colour. I hate silver too plain for me howevs'... I love it, haven't given it a proper test yet no idea what engine is inside it as I wasn't there when it was delivered to my sister Confused but it haz TURBOZ!

Comments welcome and all that jazz ha!

You painting the sp fuel cap or going to use a normal one? The fuel caps are one of the things i dislike on the gti's. One of the first things i changed. I thought i'd uploaded a picture on my progress thread but turns out i didnt lol.
When are you aiming to have it lowered by? I'm doing the rear of mine next week so wish me luck haha.
The way the coilovers were packaged doesnt look ideal does it lol.

Looking forward to seeing the colour coded fuel cap. Might be a thought for mine. They do tend to stand out like a third nipple IMO!

Great looking car and very well maintanied by the looks of the pictures its spotless.

Make sure the coilover threads are well covered in copperslip/ never-seez when they go on so that they dont rust and seize up.

@DanT;

I'm keeping the SP cap but having it sprayed in KMF professionally. I like the SP fuel caps but don't like the way they stick out I was orignally trying to source a basemodel cap to go KMF but I've since decided against.

After Christmas for lowering as I'm in no rush and tbh the road salt will age them prematurely, probably get it done when the weather starts to perk up in the spring lol

Good luck with yours I expect to see lots of pics Razz

@LoftyGTi6

Thanks me too lol, haven't seen one CC'd before, mine is currently grey matching the wheels (done by previous owner) looked good but the fuel cap paint is cracking especially around the edges, and I hold my key and cap while filling up never ever put it down.

@richpowell91

Thank you dude, the car is spotless bar bonnet & bumper chips. They will eventually be sorted though.

Will do on the coilies thanks for the head-sup Smile

Quick idea of how it will look for you, although mine had white bolts. Blue or Grey bolts would tie in well either way on yours

Sorry to fill your progress thread with pics of petrol caps lol but i've found the one i took of mine. Its from a 1.4 sport and is the right colour so i didnt need to paint it!

I prefer it by miles but obviously its just personal preference.
Lowering when the weather gets a bit better sounds like a plan, look forward to seeing it done Smile

How much of the induction stuff did you have to remove in order to get the Simota fitted..? Did you remove all the breather pipes, solenoid under the battery box etc and the secondary pump and everything behind the wing/archliner..?

Reason I'm asking is because I've stripped it all out as I'm getting an ITG Maxogen kit for it, but don't know whats needed and what isn't needed.

As much info as you can give would be great.

Hi mate, Maxgen kit must be dollar? lol

I removed the entire stock airbox top to bottom - I was left with 2 oil feeds but my kit came with 2 oil breathers. I didn't remove them or shorten them.

The air box sits on like a butterfly valve that was also removed and the piping off the bottom.

Not sure what you mean by solenoid and secondary pump - assuming you mean the above butterfly valve thing?

Here is a couple of pictures that might help a little -

They don't actually do one for the 180 but I'm getting one from an Mk4 R32 as it needs to be from a 2.0 engine and above.

I'll try and take pics of everything I've take off but relocated just to compare it with yourself.

The secondary air pump sit up under the flitch area on the passenger side and the reservoir like it is on the other 206s which then takes the pipe up back into the passenger side wing.

I've removed the breather pipe to the cam covers but might look into getting an oil catch tank and up that pipe and also the inlet breather pipe onto that.
