Clock Display Query
-> 206 Problems

#1: Clock Display Query Author: matthu, Location: Cambridgeshire PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:03 am
    ----
Ive recently purchased a 206 and have a issue with the clock display or (mfd) basically when i turn the engine off the display turns off which is normal but when i get out the car and lock the doors by using the central locking the clock display comes back on. The radio was changed when i bought it and was swapped for an aftermarket one, i dunno if this would affect it or not as i know the factory fitted radio ties in with the clock. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if anyone knows how to fix it? Cheers.

When you turn the key on which step clock - radio are powered?this might be a wrong connection while fitting new radio.

When i turn the ignition on the radio doesnt come on automatically i have to turn it on manually, also if ive had my radio on and i turn the engine off then the radio turns off and turns itself on again. I then have to manually turn the radio off, could the new aftermarket radio affect the mfd display?

When you turn the engine off and pull out the key interior light comes on if the radio turns on by the light they've connected a wrong power wire.not sure about mfd but i think this might affect it.

Is the MFD tied in with the central locking?

Everythings controlled though the BSI.any changes in wiring can cause this.only suspected thing is the new radio wiring.you can remove the radio and see if the problem still persists or not.

Your old radio was connected to the comm unit that gave you control over the radio through the stalk, now you have removed it your car still thinks it should still be there so you need to reset the BSI, also did you swap the red and yellow wires in the back of the new radio?

mine did the exact same thing, this fixed it for me:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBay...K:MEWNX:IT

swaps red/yellow and leaves out some of the redundant connections without messing with the existing wiring.
Dead cheap too!
