#17: Re: Airfilters Author: Big_Rich180, Posted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:04 am ---- No not really, opinions differ on filters, some people think (including me) that open filters make you lose power if anything, they juat make a cool noise lol, pannel filters are meant to let the engine breath better but there is no real performance gain.
#18: Re: Airfilters Author: j4m1e, Location: BirminghamPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:07 am ---- so if i wanted a nicer sound then the air filter not the panel filter :/

Yarr
Open cone filter or pipercross viper enclosed type or just take the air cleaner off, that gives you the most noise. Last edited by Big_Rich180 on Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:08 am; edited 1 time in total

#21: Re: Airfilters Author: j4m1e, Location: BirminghamPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:08 am ---- hhmm ok thanks guys il have to have a think and see which i would prefer if any
cheers
#22: Re: Airfilters Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:53 am ---- panel filter is better, but you wont get the sound.
ive always found that when fitting induction kits like the cone filter above they do more harm then good. ok you get the sound, but it upsets the engine, increases fuel usage etc. plus insurance will go up when you declare it. (which you must do or your uninsured technically)
its really not worth it for the sound lol. plus on a 1.1 it will be all mo-peddy anyway if you know what i mean haha
#23: Re: Airfilters Author: j4m1e, Location: BirminghamPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 6:14 am ---- so will the panel filter help the car run nicer ? is that what your saying ?

until i get an exhaust i just want it to sound a bit better with out making my insurance go higher lol ...
Drill holes in your airbox and fit some old tights around the top...

Doesnt make enough difference for it to be worth it though,
Its very simple, if you want noise get a cone filter if you want something that will potentially help the car get a panel filter.
Its a 1.1 you're never going to get any decent power gains out of it, so either buy a cone filter or leave it alone.
#27: Re: Airfilters Author: Razpulsedj, Location: Partying with the Info ShufflersPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:14 am ---- lol well i know many lets say chavvy people who have done it lol
But id suggest a k&n panel filter they are great
#28: Re: Airfilters Author: j4m1e, Location: BirminghamPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:17 am ---- cool cheers for the advice
#29: Re: Airfilters Author: Razpulsedj, Location: Partying with the Info ShufflersPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:21 am ---- Even though your car is a 1.1 mate id still go ahead and get one as they are a grat investment and last upto 100k miles! and for the money its damn well worth it, also you will notice a slight increase in response from the car and its doing your car a lot of good compared to the old filter
I had a 1.1 you see and i bought one for mine, great investment
#30: Re: Airfilters Author: j4m1e, Location: BirminghamPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:27 am ---- yeah i think i might just get one of those .. i can just do a straight swap can't i ? take old one out and put the new one in ?
