#1: Remove Steering Wheel - Multiplexed Author: -Kitsune-, Location: Johannesburg, South AfricaPosted: Tue Feb 15, 2011 5:37 pm ---- I remember there was a how to on the old forum.
I really need to get to the COM2000 because I've just noticed my high beam switch doesn't work anymore..
I know the COM2000 fits around the steering column so I need to take the steering wheel off to get to it..

So you'll need a something thin to push it, ie a small screw driver. Then the middle bolt is a T55 Torx bit. then you need to remove the cowling and then you'll get to the COM2000. Just be careful when you remove the airbag as there's wires attached to it that are linked with the COM2000 unit.

Also, and this is a bit of a DO NOT FORGET, disconnect the battery is by following the proper procedure. I changed my comms 2000 at the week end, had to by a brand new one. Entire job takes about 10-15 mins. Use a flat blade screw driver.
Park with wheels straight
disconnect battery in the proper manner (see how to section)
Remove cowlin
Under the steering wheel there's a small hole with a metal bit inside tha runs across it, put that metal bit in with a screw driver anf air bag should pop out.
Remove airbag taking care of 3 wires, 1 either side of airbag, 1 on a spade connector on the rear.
The rest is straight forward.
