Failed MOT....

Hi all

my 99 1.4 just failed its mot..


001. Nearside front brake hose excessively deteriorated [3.6.b.4d]

002. Offside front brake hose excessively deteriorated [3.6.b.4d]

003. Rear brake application uneven [3.7.A.5c]

004. Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.2b]

005. Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.2b]

006. Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits [7.3.D.2b]





any ideas how to sort the emissions?

sounds like its going to need a cat, or its just not been hot enough,

Thats not too bad, brake hoses are cheap, new cat and you'll be sorted. What a pain though.

or put some premiun petrol in and give it some revs. before doing the emission

Warm the car up first

Better fuel and you will pass

that is all the info i was given, they didnt give me a sheet with specific emissions figures on :/

They should have given you a seperate sheet with the emissions test results on and what exact test they passes or failed on

so front brake pipes, easy to do, front discs, easier and could possibly pass after some cat cleaner and 99fuel like mine did if its not a bad fail, other wise its a cat....

an oil change sorted my emission failure out
