Black mark after cold start
-> 206 Problems

#1: Black mark after cold start Author: awirnok, Location: Lithuania PostPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:03 pm

Hi again,
weather is cold, so I start a car usually from second or third time. I heat spark plugs several times too. There were some new snow and after the start I saw this:

I saw these black colly before. The biggest mark was after staying of car one week. Then my battery wasn't high-powered so I bought one and started a car again. Problem was also with diesel of summer, but it is the past.

Question - it is due to cold weather and very cold start or other probably?

If its 1.9D thats not alot to worry about, especially if the outside temp is low and is been stood still for a while!

And if it takes a few pre-heats to get it going that will happen, its just deposits left in te exhaust andsome unburnt fuel getting thrown out Smile

If its a HDI, it will be in need of a service and good run up the road!!

just carbon soot anyway, normal for a diesel!

Mine is 2.0 HDi. There aren't blue or black smoke, so I hope there isn't a problem.
