#1: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 now for sale!!! Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:40 pm ---- thought id pop up a project thread of my 206 gti 180 had it a long time now and finally got it pretty much how i want it
the day i picked it up feels like forever ago (came from the factory with the morette headlamps and full stainless grille set )
first mods were the red led rear lights and clear fog and headunit from my old 206 and a k&n panel filter
got round to fitting the clear hi-level brake light from my old 206 and some chrome side repeaters
got my cupra splitter on unfortunately the one from my old 206 wouldnt fit the gti bumper so had to buy a new one
blacked out the edging on the front badge
new black led rear lights got bored of the red ones
had an incident with my n/s/f wheel and a rock down a back lane so ended up rolling on the 15"s off my old 206 for a few weeks
bought black led brake light and fog light to match and some smoked side repeaters
few pics
then i wanted a small install so did this
took the peugeot and lion badges off the tailgate
finally after a lot of saving a few more mods lowered all round, peugeot styled mudflaps front and rear and an espace front splitter and redid the front badge completely black
my old kenwood headunit decided to die so got a nice new one
and a pipercross air filter
took the mudflaps off and swapped the splitter back to the cupra one
new janspeed cat back exhaust sounds awesome
got fed up of my sound system and went for the stripped look (this lasted about a week the noise was too much put the seats back in but left the sound system out)
xmas came and i got an omp strut brace and carbon effect ecu cover from my parents
wired in a 406 auto dimming rear view mirror
and fitted an 8 ball gearknob (this has since been swapped back to the alloy gti one)
got some money for my birthday so treated the car to some sp arch extensions, a 207 sp grill badge, some new peugeot floor matsand a bloody good clean
went to a local car show
and to modified mania show
(thats me on the left btw )
on the ferry
few random photos
some up to date photos
im also putting another small soundsystem in this weekend if the weathers good so will add pics when its done

Although one small thing I would either put the rear badges back on or take off the 206- Gti. Looks a bit uneven. That's only my opinion though
#4: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:07 pm ---- very nice car you got mate, and nice mods so far,you have a very nice taste with your mods, and keeping the car simple and all the OEM look is nice, but I was wondering do you still have the red LED set or did you sold it?

#13: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Sat Feb 26, 2011 7:20 am ---- Defo one of the best on here, agree with Edward to an extent although my next comment may seem to contradict it, but I think the wheels look best silver on a 180 but they don't conform to your theme 'smoked' I'd opt for standard rear lights or have the wheels anthracite to give it more direction.
Mint 180 though!

#28: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: Icetto, Location: Cape TownPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2011 2:51 am ---- How's your ride with it that low?
Ever thought about getting other rims or spraying your 180 rims?
got fed up with the rubbish handling and lame ride height so treated myself to some eibach sportline springs and H&R cup sport dampers for the front. also put the rear up 20mm and adjusted the settings on my gaz rear dampers
seemed to attract the ladies too
more updates to come soon have dropped off a new front bump strip, badge and wiper cover to be sprayed as mine are a bit stone chipped and bought a bundle of new cleaning goodies ready to start the prep work for modified mania at the end of the month
#31: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: shell-vt, Location: durhamPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:42 am ---- looks really nice... ever thort about total de-badge
#32: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: Icetto, Location: Cape TownPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2011 9:21 am ---- Still looks great even with the slight raise in height.
I'd love to see white rims on your car but that's just me
Got some lekker "kinners" (ask Ant) there by your car, lol. In the last pic look at the poor Clio. It even looks sad as all the girls are by your car
been on a bit of a spending spree this week to try and get the car all up together for modified mania at the end of the month
lots of new cleaning goodies
new front bump strip to replace the old badly chipped one
new colour coded badge
colour coded wiper cover
all fitted and cleaned up (didnt get a chance to go take some proper photos as it started raining )

Where do you get your spray paint from? EXL is hard to come by and the one place I found that did it in a spray can wasn't a great colour match

cheers mate blacks so the best colour when its clean
got a local bodyshop iv used for years to spray it for me the blokes spot on i just drop the bits off normally and leave it there till they can squeeze it in then i get it done at a really good price cost me £30 to have the bump strip, badge and wiper cover prepped and painted including the cost of the paint
at that price its not worth messing around myself

cupra splitter does need a bit of trimming but just a case of whipping the bumper off and turn it upside down then just fiddle around with it till it fits nicely i did it without taking the bumper off on my mates fiesta but its a lot easier with the bumper off

Thats alright mate, it is very nice! Yeah I know what you mean I'm dreading that with mine (although I've got a fair old way to go yet) Cars are like Pringles i guess, once you pop you just can't stop!
It'd be good to see another project though, but, can you bring yourself to part with the 180? I know I wouldn't! haha
Splitter sounds easy enough. Thanks, I'll have a look into it more when I can be arsed to take the bumper off again! Not long had it off for my black SP going in.
I've got a gti spoiler to spray/fit and my new LED back lights too Theyre similar to your's actually with the rows of LED's, but red with two round clear lenses in for the reverse and indicators.

yeah not really sure if i can bring myself to sell it if i do it will be for something slower and i know il miss the power had a good blast home in it last night and it reminded me of why i love it
lol sounds like you've got plenty going on black sp grill maybe on the cards for next year if iv still got it along with a few other subtle bits but nothing will be done till the spring now im ok atm because im helping the other half mod her new 206 that keeps me occupied
you mean these led ones
had them on my old 206 for ages and put them on the 180 when i first got it but wanted black ones instead
had them on my old 206 for ages and put them on the 180 when i first got it but wanted black ones instead
Hahaaa! Yeah thats the ones! £25 off ebay, sorted!! I don't think he knew what they were because it didn't mention LED in the listing. (hence no other bids) Just hope all the LED's work Will probably replace the two bulbs with LED's as well to finish them off
Yeah I wish I had the power of the 180. I downgraded from a 2.0 Mondeo Si to my 1.4 sport so missing the power A LOT! 145bhp down to 90

I keep thinking the same thing but for what 180's go for you will get a heap and will regret! Only thing I'd consider going for is a Clio RS which are now very cheap too.
I'm gna run mine in to the ground shes just hit 40k, I plan to keep mine until I get a better car and will either give mine to my girlfriend or track it.

You should just keep it for what it's worth, you've had it from nearly day 1 know everything about it ect ect ect
I know about loosing money on 180's lol! I sold my old one 4 years ago now, bought that for nearly 10gs and sold a year later for £4.250 part X I wasn't impressed but couldn't be asked faffing with buyers messing me about.
For the money you will get, you will need to slap on quite alot more moneys for a better car. I know this because all I have been doing is pricing up cars for the last 4 months!
#69: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2012 10:44 am ---- definitely keep it mate, you really won't get that much for it as there going for £2k on pistonheads and auto trader now plus I don't have the money yet to buy it off you ; )

yeah but most of the ones around that price are tatty, standard and no service history still worth bout £3300 maybe a smidge more got full service history with genuine parts/oil only, all the mods/sound system and just had 2 new tyres and the back axle rebuilt
#71: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: JamieM, Posted: Wed Mar 07, 2012 12:28 pm ---- Defo worth more than 2k what a joker! There's alot more to it than that.
As said 98% on PH are s**t that's why they are so cheap.
rttam if you split the bits you can and replace with stock parts chances are because of the condition of the car you will get around the same money and earn off your mods.

can you not level it out back looks much lower than front? other than that perfect, on the look for a black 206 myself
yeah that does annoy me its not too bad when its sat on flat. it was set right when i had the old suspension but the new setup made the front slightly higher and i left it incase it dropped when the springs bedded in really cant be arsed to take the bars out again as iv not long rebuilt the axle trying to decide atm what to do either fit coilovers to make front lower, raise back or remove soundsystem and back seats which would make the back higher anyway so wouldn need to bother then

handles spot on mate really happy with them dont think they are soft at all didnt want to go for coilovers as iv had them before and are too stiff for the poor roads where i live.
they are a lot stiffer than the spax ones i had on there before
#82: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Mon Oct 29, 2012 3:08 pm ---- well its been a fair while since i posted pics of my 180 havnt done any mods and almost sold it but decided on keeping it and freshening it up a bit
i know some people are gonna love this and some are gonna hate it but new mods are as follows:
*gt front bumper
*satin black plastic bumper grille
*black richbrook metal no plate screws
*sp upper grilles removed
*osram nightbreaker plus bulbs
*gt rear bumper with 180 exhaust surround trimmed and fibreglassed on
*janspeed rear box has had pipes cut off and twin 3" pipes welded on (thought the 3.5" ones were a bit too big plus they needed extending anyway so just cut them off and welded new ones on
*bloody good clean up
anyways il let the pictures do the talking
any comments good or bad please be honest i can take it

How did you get hold of a 180 trim! It's epic what work you've had done in a short space of time...where did you get it done? How about the 308 wheels from this higher spec I like those..or MAM MT1's what's the few little bits? We should organise a meet up in Newton abbot as per usual and then decide what to do from there!

yeah i think if it hadnt of been a dark colour it wouldnt of worked not really sure on the silver gt's but think the bumpers work well on darker coloured cars

yeah that sounds good to me mate I actually looked up the camera's after I saw your vid
I got the same rear lights as on uz's 180, bought a set of crystal black side repeaters, got my rear mudflaps to fit and also fitted richbrook seat covers

awesome! was gonna mod my old mudflaps to fit the gt bumper but not gonna bother now as when i go lower with the front will have to remove the fronts too
lights will look great you having masked crystals for the front again? in the process of making some for kates 206 to put on along with the gti bumpers and the eibach sportlines/h&r's will be going onto it when they come off mine

yeah thats what my original exhaust did it was a layer of the exhaust box rotted and was flapping against itself so i tried to drop the back box down to tack it on with weld till i could afford a janspeed and then bloody thing snapped off at the joint to the centre pipe as it was rotten ended up welding on the backbox from my mates old saxo to keep it driveable until i got the janspeed was only on there for 3 weeks but did my head in was soooo loud and looked really naff!
epic fail!! did pop back like hell though
#101: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 updated 30/12/12 Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Sun Dec 30, 2012 4:39 pm ---- Lol well hopefully i can get one next week as there was 1 on ebay 2nd hand for £170 delivered otherwise its £375 plus fitting not to mention my tax is due end of the month and mot in march lol

Bit annoying if you remove the mudflaps though! Dunno if you didnt have them before but if you drive on a wet road it literally just covers everywhere in crap without them

yeah before i had them it used to really annoy me the amount of stuff that sprayed up from the wheels thats the main reason i got them was worried about stone chips up the door and sill will try it when iv lowered front may just have to take them off to get on the ramp at work etc as they scuff on that already! not that hard to take on and off so not really a problem just dont want to destroy them lol

Did you have to do anything extra to your janspeed so it would stick out further now that you put the bigger rear GT bumper on?

cheers mate yeah just trying to sort out an editing program as my computers only windows xp which sucks
yeah i did try just sliding it out but it wouldnt go anywhere near plus i always thought the 3 1/2" tailpipes were a bit big anyway. so got some decent quality 3" similar tailpipes from ebay, hacked off the janspeed tailpipes and welded some new ones on. is much better now doesnt knock on the bumper surround now either

Yeah i'd definitely try and keep them if you can, its an absolute nightmare without them at the moment
Going to get the front of mine down a bit more in time for the summer and start getting it up to scratch, be good to do a few meets at some point!

mines pretty much donr now just got to finish off the engine bay and boot build and thats it. but got plenty to do to kates 206 before the shows currently in the process of trying to make some masked crystals for it as her angels are terrible visibility at night even with the nightbreaker bulbs in then got full gti kit and lowering to do to it and redo the nimrods graphite!!
yeah was saying to matty last night that once mines back from the bodyshop will definately have to sort a meet out

bit of dead laquer on n/s around door handle and car park ding in rear quarter plus a bramble scratch so having the whole n/s stripped, sanded back and repainted, having the dent i made in the tailgate when i dewipered it taken out and whole bootlid resprayed to lose the faint marks from where the badges used to be, morette covers sanded back and resprayed and also new colour coded badge as i managed to break the tail off the current one seems a bit extreme but just want it perfect for this years shows once its back gotta give it a major service and then putting some ap coilovers on it so can wind the front right down.

Hope to see this at FCS!
yeah pretty much know what you mean its been getting me down everytime i clean it so i thought sod it it needs doing!
yeah definately up for fcs there's a group of us coming from the southwest as its nearer this year be nice to finally meet some other info'ers!
#114: Re: RTTAM'S 206 GTI 180 updated 13/1/13 Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Sat Feb 02, 2013 12:43 pm ---- well been a busy weekend on the 180 so far removed my gt front bumper and dropped that off to be resprayed due to some reaction issues and whacked the standard bumper back on with no splitter so i could drive it to the workshop.
gave it a full service and check over as well as sorting a few small things out. then got my ap coilovers built up with new genuine peugeot top mounts and put those on. have wound them down quite a bit and had to space the wheels out very slightly may go a tiny bit lower yet but will wait till the gt bumper is back on. adjusted up the tracking and went for a short drive first impressions are although the ride is slightly harsher than the eibach/H&R'S i took off the handling is still spot on
a few pics
currently sitting like this :/
front bumper should be done next weekend so will be getting that back on along with a new colour coded badge as i broke the tail off the current one cleaning it lol. also got to the bottom of my foglamp issue so will have working fogs again with the gt bumper
will give it a good clean and post some proper pics when the bodywork is all sorted!
also have another matching vibe sub to go in, a few colour coded angine bay bits and my polished inlet manifold in progress but these probably wont be done until next month now
