HDi turbo lag ???

#1: HDi turbo lag ??? Author: pedro_keil, Location: Sittingbourne, Kent PostPosted: Tue Mar 01, 2011 1:37 pm

Now the car has been up and running a few days, it has seemed to have developed a noticable amount of turbo lag (i presume it's lag?) between 2000 - 2500 ish rpm.

I've given it a good run on ultimate diesel and the air filter is new so was wondering what may cause this?

Running upto 2000 rpm and coming onto boost all seems well.

Kinda waiting for the dreaded 'Antipollution fault' to come up now!!
I'll get a download and will see what codes are logged at the weekend.

nope. this can't be turbo lag.

boost start to build up as early as 1500rpm and after 2000rpm can already achieve full boost.

that means turbo lag can only occur between 800rpm(idle speed) and 1500rpm.

stock K03 turbo is just too small so turbo lag are virtually non-exsist.

A knackered ream axle mainly, but also a seized alternator where it had sat about for a while and a few other bits.
My WIP with all the details: www.206info.co.uk/Foru...20533.html

Oh, I didn't realise it came onto boost so early. Thanks.

Would a fueling issue cause a dip in power like this?

could be a few things really..

if there is no boost leakage then probably worth to check the condition of the injectors.

I had a look at the pipe work and all seems good but have no idea what they are like whilst under load??

Something for the weekend then me thinks.

It's done 167k miles so it's gonna be a tad baggy somewhere lol, just wierd that it's only between 2000 - 2500 rpm ???
Although I'm not a car technican so could be well off, trains I can fix but combustion engines ?!?!?! LOL

As above, a good injector service get them cleaned professionally loads of places do it now and it transforms any car, especially with loads of miles, not to expensive either

Nice one, I'll look into them 1st off after a download of the codes.
Is there know problems with the injector seals like the 1.6 HDi's ??

Thanks for your help Smile
