Has anybody noticed on any 206 with ABS, it kick in under light braking just as the car is nearly stationary?? it literally kicks the pedal twice and then stops!!

mine has done this a couple of times in different conditions both dry and wet and at different points on journeys, but not all the time Smile

binding rear drum maybe??

Never had that one yet.

I can emergency brake assist the car to a stop without the abs cutting in at all Laughing

It is so quick just as the car is coming to rest its stupid why its happening but i'll check my driveshafts for broken pickup rings

Mine had a cracked ring on the shaft and at 100mph+ the ABS light would come on and and occasionally when parking it would trigger the ABS.

So up the ramps the car went and this is what I found.

Edward - did your ABS light go out after that as mine did not, even though I got a new ring.

After a restart the light would always go off.

Maybe my sensor is naffed then, as my fault still comes up but the car is running fine now with a new CV Joint / ABS Ring. The initial problem I had was speedometer intermittently showing incorrect readings and the brakes went a bit d***ky like I was braking on snow.

Does that mean yours is one of the cars that have the speedo operated by an ABS sensor? They don't all work like that.

Can you buy replacement driveshaft rings then Paul? As I've got the same problem now!

G. Seen some on Ebay for about £10 recently. I opted for a new CV Joint instead (where the ring is attached) for about £20-£25.

This ring may fit depending on your model/year ABS Ring

Right there's not a lot of info on the DV6 - would I be right in saying it will use the same driveshafts as the GTi 138? Checked Service Box but it doesn't state the diameter of the ABS ring.

Could you measure the driveshaft diameter? ? ?

I did & I reckon its gonna be the same drivetrain with different gear ratios as the GTI apart from the FAPTASTIC peice of French engineering under the bonnet powering it all Wink

G. you never said if your ABS fault warning came up on your car? Mine has noe finally gone but comes back every couple of days. I think a new sensor is likely for me.

Aye it flags up, comes om over 80 and stays until you stop and restart the car then it clears.

Check to see if one of the tyre pressures is significantly lower than the others which would affect the rolling diameter of the individual wheel and trigger an abs fault, similarly, if one of the tyres is worn more than the others.

Not checked the pressures in a while, will give that a shot and then order up new sensors if no joy.

Interesting, my O/S/F is worn more and ABS light comes on now and again. Also the ABS has kicked in when pulling away from low speed. Not often though.

Anyone got a 'how-to' on reolacing the ABS rings?

IF its any help,

I had many problems with the ABS on the 180, I had a few ABS rings and sensors replaced, but the problem turned out to be some wiring under the car that had broke and that was causing the ABS to flick on and off....mostly off.

Cheers Rich, but had a look and the ring is cracked on the passenger driveshaft.

Crawled under the car during the week and seen the passenger side ring had cracked. Replaced this today, after a bit of a fight trying to drift it onto the driveshaft...

All sorted now, will do the other side next weekend for peace of mind.
