Im pretty sure its a professional job as you need to somehow remove the old tow eye (saw off or some form of cutting tool) then to put a tow strap on you need to get it put on a point on the chassis and for it to go onto the chassis you need to get it tapped and threaded then you can bolt it on.

There is a chance you could weld it to the chassis but they are designed to be bolted on.

I have 2 black trs tow straps and im waiting till next time i take my front bumper off then gonna have a look at getting mine fitted but trust me its not gonna be easy :/

I've looked at it and you need to cut as much of the 'hook' part of it off then drill a hole into the centre of the remain and then bolt and nut with two washers above and below to fit it to that length.

I'll be getting mine fitted at the bodyshop next month front and rear as the cut area needs to be sprayed back up again one it's been cut.

surely instead of cutting as much off as possible you can take the bumper off and cut right back to where it is welded onto the car then you attach your tow strap to that point which will be the chassis?

its safer that way and you can then bolt it right through aswell Confused

and what will need re-sprayed nothing should need resprayed as you wont affect any paintwork if you taker the buympers off and cut right back

iv looked thoroughly at this as i have had my tow straps for a while and im pretty sure you could do it yourself and there's nothing needing resprayed

Really so once you've ground down across the flich your just going to leave the flich area bare and untreated yeah..?

What do you think I'm going to be leaving the bumpers on when I do this :S

I won't be going to the extent of having to drill into the chassis and tapping and weld bolts in as the chassis solid. So you can't hold the bolt anywhere on the otherside for it to be weld into plate.

I'm gunna do it the way I've said because I know I'm not going to cause any stress on the flich area and weaken it by drilling into it.

there's ample room for you to bolt into the straight of the hook and not have to worry about grind it down to the flinch face and having to having all resprayed, atleast this way I can just get it touched up and it'll be fine.

once i have cut the old tow hook off the tow strap will be sitting in the place of it i wont need to grind down to anything as long as i get a good clean cut as low down the tow hook as possible and nothing will be needing spraying? i dont quite get how your planning on doing it to be honest and its kind of hard to describe how i will do it but im sure both ways will work Smile
